What a lovely selection of all sorts. Just whats needed on a rainy day
Phew that sounds like hard work Bluey. hope you didn't plant the cyclamen too deep?Yes Poppy, you win :)That was amazing! You really have seen them a lot, does it still retain the magic? Glorious red one.And that little collage was really good Farway. You don't look a bit like I imagined.I nearly bought a gardening mug yesterday. It was shapped like a flowerpot with a teaspoon like a spade
Been out taking photos in the rain and the humungus low cloud suddenly moved away and there was sun which was lovely. It will be a while before I can download/upload them . Too much to do.Here's something I took earlier
All out of reach of course
Got just enough for a small bottle of sloe gin to see in the New Year.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on

Not sure what the other is, though!I know it as Achillea ptarmica, damp-loving cousin of Yarrow; Sneezewort seems to be the commonest common name...Nor me... but are we sure that's the real Farway and not an AI hallucination?Amazing aurorae, fungi (sorry, no ID as) and sloes - we had some of the latter in similar abundance, if not size, but as in previous recent years they have suddenly all gone manky, without even waiting for a decent frost...Here are my funny fungi, and some oak leaves with residents...

They look like wee Cheerios on your oak leaves, Less
And weird looking black fungi too.
I love the sloes, twopenny, that's a huge amount. I came across some when I was brambling, but they were like bullets at the time and few and far between.
I think I've got a touch of the Sneezewort - I was awake before 4am with a sore throat and stuffy nose
The Aurora really was beautiful, twopenny, I don't think I'll ever tire of seeing it
my dream is to see it in Iceland or Finland, or maybe on a Norwegian cruise...
OT - light winds and sunny spells today.'A watched potato will never chit'...8 -
Good morning all, on "Search - Diwali" day.
Your aurora pics are amazing pp, I'd never tire of seeing it either. Would you see anything better by going all the way up there when you've got them so good at home? I almost daren't ask - how's your Mr Blackie?
2p I'd have bought the flowerpot mug and spade spoon, even if it is consumerist tat, because it'd make me smile every time I used it
It's a shame you only got a handful of sloes, they look lovely. Could you do like they do with olives? Lay something on the ground and batter the branches about a bit..? Cyclamen aren't buried deep at all, I think that's what I did wrong with the lovely white and pink one I put out front the other year.
I've never seen fungi that colour before Less, the one bottom right looks a bit like a g-g-g-ghost!
So what's the cheerio things on your leaves then? Are they a fungus too..?
Dusty I hope GirlHog makes it now she's at HogHQ, poor wee soul. Lovely to see your ones doing so well though
I wonder how they got the bowls stacked?
I love the pics from your walk, but especially the first one looking along a leafy path through a tunnel of trees
Did it smell all musty and perfect?
I agree with the others Farway, you don't look like I picturing you looking like, you're not like you sound like. You sound taller for one thing, more of a Prince Philip Neville Chamberlain sort of a one. I like that you've doubled your chances with LiaM with 2 packets ha haa!
I'll risk a few pics then. Here's the veiled lady -
Ah for gawd sake, it’s only letting me upload one
Honi swanky malyponze. Or something.7 -
One at a time it is then.Honi swanky malyponze. Or something.5 -
I don’t know if it’ll come out on your screens, but the veil between her nose and mouth is so fine you can see light through it!Honi swanky malyponze. Or something.6 -
Forgive the string of posts folks

I honestly thought she was a bust rather than a full statue, ignorant yoke that I am, so that was a lovely surprise
She's holding a flame cos she's based on a Vestal Virgin - like what they dug up in Pompeii etc - so the 5th (6th?) Duke had her made after he got back from his Grand Tour. She really is worth going to see, my pictures don't do her justice. There's an aura about her, very peaceful and cool, like you get when you step into a church.
OT Warm and misty and damp out there, 11'c with a high of 15'c to come, possibly. Rain midmorning but it's that damp and humid I hardly think I'll be able to tell!
Oh and Cissie was positively giddy when I rang her last night, turns out she's just discovered Strictly Come Dancing
She's absolutely agog, the dancing and dresses and music and glitter, the whole thing makes her heart smile. Proof if proof were needed that age is no barrier to discovering something new. God love her
Honi swanky malyponze. Or something.8 -
Well, if you're an ignorant yoke, then so am I, YBE, because I thought it was a bust too. It looks absolutely stunning - literally a work of art.
No sign of Mr Blackie :'('A watched potato will never chit'...4 -
Just wet & wet here, no complaints though, it was needed, and supposed to be a bit wet all weekThe doughnuts on Less's leaves, are Galls, just looked it up, and would you believe there is even a Gall Society, that must be very specialised.Love the Veiled Lady YBE, amazing the skills some folks have. I'd like to see a sculptor at work, my effort would be like the armless ones, where I'd lopped the arm off in error
And well done to Cissie finding Strictly, even though it's not for my tastes I can understand why it is popularNever see sloes here, they do exist but I must be surrounded by drunkards because they are all picked bare by the time I lookTomato blight has finally arrived ! Held out for ages, but at least i got some crop despite a poor startOnce the wet spell is over i can et on & clear them now, and get the daff bulbs in
I am taller, the AI fiddles about unless you give specific instructionsYoungBlueEyes said:2p I'd have bought the flowerpot mug and spade spoon, even if it is consumerist tat, because it'd make me smile every time I used it :bl:blush:

Boo, one at a time
