Oh wow, look at the size of that Silver Birch, W_M - how long did it take to get that big?? I've read that they're quite fast growing trees, but I have a LONG way to go to get anywhere near that
Funny Rome0 pic - I love those mossy ears
I've ventured outside again to hang a suet block on the feeder - I'm so sick of the crows feasting on the blocks (they disappear within a couple of hours if I don't spot them gorging themselves) so I've moved the feeder further into the Ceanothus and am hoping the branches will thwart them. I have two thrushes coming into the garden and they've been eating the crumbs, along with the robins and blackbirds, so I don't want to do away with it. I've noticed the thrushes are eating the dried fruit I throw out too, so I'm wondering if it's been too dry for them to find any snails. I might move a few things in the garden to uncover some for them.
Sorry, Dusty, I didn't see your post (forgot to refresh) - the Robin pic was just a lucky click. That's a very nice Camellia - my sister had one in an old garden and it seemed to thrive on her neglect.
Thanks for the tea tree information, twopenny. I've got some TT oil, I wonder if that would mix with some unscented cream until I can get the other stuff. I'm sure the midges are out earlier this year
Farway, that second pic of the 'tropical butterflies' is lovely - what an imagination you have.'A watched potato will never chit'...6 -
Came back from a walk this afternoon to find the bird feeder knocked over… bloomin’ crows... I was going to go and pick it up straightaway, but then saw these two taking advantage of the situation… 😊 is the thrush bum (last pic) a first on here??… 😂

Morning all
My laptop's had some sense beaten into it been fixed, himself picked it up on his way home from work last night. I've just caught up on 7 pages
Thanks for the plant IDs folksI know what I'm keeping my eye out for now
Who asked about the clematis? I'll get another pic when I go passed it again - it's a beauty but doesn't have much of a smell tbh. I love the house behind the wisteria tree, the chimney pots are drunken and they make me smile every time I see them. We do have some nice bits in the village, I walk round through the auld folk's bungalow estate cos that's where most of the proper gardens are. It's heartbreaking to see the houses sold and yoofs moving in, first thing they do without fail is concrete over the front garden
Anyway.
Jeez there's some good photos on here, ones I'll have to Mull over and Think about <snigger> I like the drone beach and the ducklingsAnd who knew Duck mail was a thing? I've opened that in a new tab, thanks Farway
You've a heavenly sitooterie there 2p, just right to look at all them daisies... So Whizzley was a success judging by the pics - the arch is a belter and I'd really like that little poppy grove thankyouplease
And I want some Little Leos, they're very jolly, and some strawberries would be welcome, and some plums on my plum tree (but sans maggots!) would be good. It's all leafy and good looking but it's not flowered so that's another year of no fruit *sigh*
OT bit cool. We've had wind and there's more days of wind to come, straight down from the north it is, most unwelcome. I've checked the forecast carefully every morning and it always says no rain for the next 10 days, and then the other morning I got up and it was raining. Not enough to do any good but at least we got some. I need to shift meself and do the food shop, then it's Domestic Nonsense and that's another day gone.
Here is this week's absolutely free, absolutely not legal advice story. Big Boss Man had a week off, and went to umm... lets say Lake Garda (name changed to protect it's identity). When he got back he was in great form altogether so I asked for a pay rise. He said "sorry poppet, no can do." So that's it is it? 6 months and the shine's gone off the new girl? :comically exaggerated eye roll: He said "Would that I could but I'm potless, love. Have you seen the price of drink in 'Lake Garda'?!"I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.7 -
So blimmin hot yesterday, walking friend and I cried off a 4 miler and went to Rosemoor instead. We still walked over 2 miles, so it almost counted as exercise.Going out shortly to garden club event, so just a quick wee post to say roses have happened here now.No idea what it's called, but it climbs over the pergola.Love the thrush photos, pp. I'll have a pic of one beating the hell out of a snail at Rosemoor to share later.OT: Hot today soon, same as yesterday.

WM I’m not sure which pink flowers with my aquilegia but suspect it the prostate phlox grown for ground cover. How lovely of you helping your mum enjoy the garden. I have a silver birch ,not sure of the name but has a Snow White trunk.Greenbee I’m sure your garden will inspire someone, you are very brave I couldn’t do an open garden.
Pp I recognize Mull, as my late hubby worked there for a good few months, only getting home at weekends, he always said he would take me to see it.
Farway it looks like you had a good day for Wisley, smashing pics.
2p that’s a lovely spot for afternooon 🫖tea .
I went back to the nursery and bought myself a planter and potted the azalea. All plants now in the ground or pots.Today is looking overcast it’s a charity pub walk today, unfortunately my groin is still bothering me so will only be doing a little of it.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.6 -
Dull, but forecast is a hotty againUp early and out watering the front pots before any heat gets going. So dry, at least I did get the BFB scratched into them yesterday, just waiting for everything to flower now.wort said:WM I’m not sure which pink flowers with my aquilegia but suspect it the prostate phlox grown for ground cover.Dustyevsky said:Going out shortly to garden club event, so just a quick wee post to say roses have happened here now.No idea what it's called, but it climbs over the pergola.Take it easy folks, with all the aches & pains, get the photos and enjoy the viewsYBE, plums are exasperating, I was plum free and this year was chop it down year, but to thwart me it is bearing plums, and maybe maggots of course. It has also offered its services as a clematis support, so in future years even if plum free it will have clematis flowers at leastShame about pay rise, at least it was refused in good humour, his, not yoursTalking of clematis, my newly planted large flowered one that was dug up by ??? Has flowered and seems to want to live, so I watered it, seemed the least I could do.Jobs later, plant the dwarf dahlias & last couple of tomatoesPics for today, for those missing cuddly pics, some geese at Wisley this weekEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens7

Dropping by en-route to another event in a nearby village, I was going to say something sensible, but I've been completely derailed by Farway's post.
He even had me duck-ducking something I'd rather not have in my search history...
However, the above photos reminded me there was no sign of the Canada Geese in Rosemoor yesterday. Peacocks, yes and moorhens, but definitely no geese. I wonder why they left, if the Wisley ones are OK with people around? This is the thrush photo I mentioned earlier..... and before someone says it, I know you can get a cream for that!As this is MSE, I'll add that it works out cheaper than athlete's foot powder too, but this is not medical advice.

Another one who saw the Labia post on Facebook - I was howling at the comments
wort, Mull is one of my favourite places. Tobermory (Balamory) is lovely - I nearly missed it from the ferry because my DD wanted to sit inside (why?!) but luckily I'd just gone outside for some fresh air and saw the lovely colours of the houses in the distance
YBE, we've got a West North West breeze today and it feels cooler - just in time for our BBQ...
Hope the boss is feeling more generous next time you ask for a pay rise.
That rose is gorgeous, Dusty. If it is Golden Showers, then I had that in my very first garden.
The thrush pic is brilliant - it reminds me though that I was supposed to be moving some things in the garden to hopefully uncover some snails - I'll do that today.
Farway, lovely goosey and gosling pics. I'm not a fan of Canada Geese, but their offspring are very cute.
Another lovely day forecast'A watched potato will never chit'...6
