Dusty that is spooky - I planted some of those yesterday for the first time!5

Dusty, you should have stayed
and gone skinny dipping!!
I also had someone offer to carry big bags for me and time was when I used to do it for other people. the trouble with me is I look quite capable [disadvantages of being tall and fat] so I appear to be able to carry sacks of potatoes without breaking sweat. And I do miss the days when I could. I feel like I should wear a sign sometimes saying, sorry, I look like I can but I can't...Hence the staying on the neighbourses good sides...No one wants ot be reported for having an abusive polytunnel [ as they do in Italy]So walking was on the cards today [I was amazed because it wasn't last night] so I hotfooted it to the lottie this morning at half nine to test out the battery operated lawnmower - result = pretty darn good but either need two batteries, less grass or two mowings..It's plenty for my back garden which has ever decreasng amounts of grass but not for the allotment. But it does a good a job as the electric bosch mower. And look what I found there today! I've been wondering for ages what this clump of stuff was...and my lonesome arum lily but look how many about to pop! Same with the poppy out of shot, there are about eight heads about to unfurl into giant red and black wotsits...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi7 -
taff, my Lidl Arum Lily lost five or six stems and flowers - they just rotted away. There’s a few flowers still holding on, but it’s not a happy plant.
I love that beach, Dusty (maybe not the stones though - I prefer a sandy beach). Amazing rock formations.
I’ve been absolutely shattered today. I did walk to the post office and also attempted some weeding in the back garden, but it was just too hot 🥵 I think it was 23 degrees or thereabouts.
It’s clouded over now, but still feels warm. I think we’re going to get another cracking sunset tonight. I took this pic a few minutes ago - I love seeing the rays coming through the clouds and all the way down to the loch…

I had an unexpected view of ‘Balamory’ from the ferry on the way home yesterday, if anyone recognises it… 😊

Morning folks, not too much reading to catch up on.Love the sun rays PP, but I have been known to help a bit with Photoshop.Dustyevsky said:It's a place where folks still say 'Hello' in the street, and where people are generally helpful. In the narrow lanes, even Audi drivers sometimes pull over for you!Farway's zooming along in his Whizzley cart. The forecast there is mainly sunshine with a little cloud and 22c max. Ice lolly territory.Even had a crocodile of youngsters divide up so I could cross between the file. When a rock leapt into my path, causing my whizzer to come to a thudding halt, a couple asked if I was OK. I assumed they meant physical and not mental well-being, as in who let a blind lunatic loose in that. The weather was gorgeous, hot, and cloudless. On the way home it hammered down, but dry as bone at home, so guess it was a glitch in the matrix. Hail & bashing it down for about fifteen minutes.Mainly saw what I wanted to see, left out the roses, trial grounds, fruit areas & heathers, and the tropical garden bit, cannas etc, was being planted up, so out of boundsWickedly pleased to see the trained cherry trees did not have any cherries on themPhotos taken, I'm sorting through them for posting over next few daysThe ones that must go up now are the Wisteria tunnel, a showstopper.Horticultural DGD tells me the students sometimes have to sit out overnight tending bonfires underneath to stop cold & get timings right.'ere you go. The rays were all nature’s own work, Farway, I wouldn’t have a clue how to photoshop 🤷♀️
It looks like you had a glorious day at Whizzley (nod to YBE) and the Whizzteria (another nod to YBE) is absolutely gorgeous. How I wish we had the climate for it here and I could pretend to be a Desperate Housewife 😂
Well done to Dusty, I’m guessing you didn’t have to Mull over my colourful pic too long to work out where it was 😊
Another scorchio day here - I’ve been out for a walk and I’m mafted again 🥵 forecast is for sun all day and for the next few days (BBQ planned for the weekend so it’ll probably change to rain) I’ll water the plants (I can’t believe I have more tatties popping up) and top up the extremely popular makeshift birdbath, but that’s probably all today.
Anyone recognise this tree/shrub thing?? I’ve had to zoom in because I couldn’t get close to it, but it’s growing wild…

AKA Cat wee tree. There are red / pink flowered versions of it, I noticed yesterday on the way to Whizzly the hedgerows are dotted white & pink with hawthorn

Thanks, Farway. I thought hawthorn was only white, so I’ve learned something new today 😊
I’ve been in the garden this afternoon - I now have 7 tattie plants in 3 hessian bags… 🙄 DH will be happy, but I hope no more pop up. I also identified a wee silver birch self seeded in one of my MiL’s pots, so I’ve teased it out and potted it up. I still have to get the cotoneaster out of one of her other pots, but that’s a big job and I keep putting it off. I’ve also got the cotoneaster in the garden to relocate.
I think I woke some midges up when I was weeding underneath the Rowan trees - I have bites on both arms. Antihistamine has been taken and I’ve given my arms a good wash and then dabbed some tea tree oil on the bites. I react badly to insect bites, so am hoping that it will help.
Silver birch - I’ve been inspired by W_M and her wee trees in pots…

Phewwww! Busy times .....Glad the trip went ok Farway, that's some splended wisteria. I'm glad it isn't mine though it's wonderful. Far too much work.I went to Steinsville aka Padstow, it was busy and hot. So many steins. Then on to Port Isaac which was so pretty and we just had time to struggle down the hill and up again. But it was a day out. Would love to go back for the day and do some exploring and photography. This isn't great but it's dodging the crowds. No wonderful gardens to check out. This was a much calmer day. I don't think there's much of a clue for Dusty but a picnic by the river on a warm day was just glorious.Hmmmm seem to have run into a glitch so that can wait for tomorrow.
Poppy, I've been bitten to bits too. The mossies aren't getting eaten by the frogs who are in hiding in this heat. . I use teatree lotion to put on bites. It's diluted in alcohol and easy to use.Busy again, got to start hacking stuff back and watering, cleaning carpets etc while this hot weather lastsI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
