Paspatur said:Dave, I planted 4 and 2 have come up, purchased July 2020 and planted 3rd April 2021. Just 2 leaves and very leggy. Can I see yours please? Mine were from Seekay Horticultural. I have no idea what to do with them. Currently still in the house, greenhouse has veered between 1 and 43 this week (unheated in NE Scotland)If you're getting 50% germination from 2020 seed, you might expect less next year, so maybe 2 plants from 11 remaining seeds. However much everything is down to storage conditions.I've not grown Cobea before, so my practical knowledge is zero here, but I'd normally expect to save some seed from plants grown as annuals before frosts intervene.I'd think that's what my source did, though she is in the south of England. It's too dark now, so I'll do a photo in the next day or so.4

Tree blossom petals are falling. It now looks like there was a wedding in my gardenRetired 1st July 2021.
This is not investment advice.
Your money may go "down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... I got all tricked up and came up to this thing, lookin' so fire hot, a twenty out of ten..."5 -
We had lovely rain and plenty of it as wellThe T & M pear tree replacement arrived on time and the care & quality this time round shows what they can achieve if.Very well packed in a stout cardboard box, not squashy flat pack like last lotA good specimen I reckon, looks to me like it was intended as espalier, I couldn't have picked a better one if I'd tried because I was going to espalier it anywayIt has 5 long whippy branches, , 2 each side are just right for espalier, and one at 90 degrees will fit in with my plansIn a bucket soaking right now, planting out later, post my grocery deliveryHere's some pics of the pearEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens8

It was chilly and damp here yesterday, but only a smattering of raindrops - not what the plants needed at all 🙁
Where DH was - about eight miles away - there was a short, sharp snow flurry!
He came home laden with large pots full of primroses and forget me nots that were all set to be ditched. This morning the primroses have joined the ever expanding group beneath our ancient apple tree (I've been gradually gathering them from where they were previously randomly scattered around the garden 🙄), whilst the forget me nots have been placed together in a small, empty and recently created bed where they can go mad.
In other news, we have blossom on some of the fruit trees - including one of the espalier apples - but as yet not on the largest tree (the ancient one!).....
A couple of the clematis Montana are full of buds and there are two or three open flowers on the wisteria alba which has been very disappointing the last two years. The darmera peltata (or at least one of the three we have) is flowering too!
You must forgive the appalling photo quality as I'm only able to use my phone for the internet/pics and the camera element is past its best, lol!

Farway, I'm really pleased to hear that T&M have come good for you! Hopefully the company is starting to climb its way out of the hole it was in!4

Well, I never knew that rhubarb flowered. Every day is a school day 😉 thanks Dave.
phoebe, I love that Darmera Peltata.
I think I’ve managed to identify a quince in the garden using my new Google Lens app. I’m not sure of the variety, but I think it’s either Orange Beauty or Knap Hill Scarlet. Of course it might be neither of them 🙄 but whatever variety it is it’s stunning.

Wow that's a good root system!I've had drains fixed level in the garden. And I've studdied it re layout. That's as far as it got.I did go to Greencombe again today and it was amazing. Yesterdays bit of rain has bought even more flower out making it stunning. One thing that seems to be my plant of the year is they have Tree Heathers. Actual trees of heather and the smell is glorious. I hop mine survives. If not I shall persue another. Got to love a plant that's evergreen, can be any size you want eventually and has fragrant flowers.I took my new camera to practise with. When I've worked out how to transfer the photos I'll post a few.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
