Awful weather - typical Brits talk

@Davesnave welcome back, you've been missed.
@quirkydeptless you did make me laugh, thanks.
@Farway what a beautiful tree and a lovely bird bath too.
@pink_poppy the lords and ladies and the lilly of the valley both grow well under shrubs and small trees as they like the dappled shade from early summer through to late autumn and make useful, pretty and beautifully scented ground cover too so that's probably why they're where they are IYSWIM. Alpine strawberries taste so much better and don't seem to need any work either, you lucky thing.
@phoebe1989seb your list sounds gorgeous, I'm so looking forward to seeing photos this year and year's to come.
@Black_Cat2 sorry to hear about your buddleia, I'm another fan and agree they steal your heart.
@greenbee let's both blame the small screen and inadequate reading glasses shall we, I was also wondering about corydalis but agree that once @Davesnave pointed dicentra out it was obvious.
@twopenny thanks for a great garden to put on my list and the motivation to live longer. Clever suggestion about the buddleias, hope one day to be able to follow your advice myself.4 -

I was never 'away,' just unable to say anything!
Thanks for the reminder about Greencombe. I meant to take DB there last year and forgot. Perhaps we should have gone there for our 40th wedding anniversary last week, instead of the rather weird sculpture garden we had to ourselves for the afternoon:I think we might pop up there soon, especially as our RHS ticket will get one of us in free!

@Davesnave that is a weird sculpture alright, didn't quote you so that it wouldn't repeat on us; did you have nightmares? Congratters to you and DB on your anniversary, hope your daughters et al gave you a lovely pressie."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

With regards Greencombe, there is so little to see unless you come around now, given that we've had such warm weather for so long, what, about 3 weeks solid sunshine, the plants are all in bloom. Some of the Dogs Tooth Violets had gone over.I hope to go back and photograph soon. The rest of the season will be trying to learn to sketch again. It's my 'return to normal'project...I hope one of you goes soon. There were plants I don't know what the heck they were. I've never seen them before and would like interpretation. They looked unusual and exotic, certainly weird by the usual English garden standard and trawling though books or sites to find them would spoil the relaxing magic of the day.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on
The only normal people you know are the ones you don’t know very well

Thanks tp great suggestion and all. I notice some growing along a cycle path not far from me. Don't want to look like a criminal digging one up lol, maybe I'll sneak over there under the cover of darkness... Sshhhh! 😹Just my opinion, no offence 🐈3

Congratters to you and DB on your anniversary, hope your daughters et al gave you a lovely pressie. Our anniversary was like most things at present, a low-key affair. Daughter 2 visited and we had fish & chips in the car, watching the wildlife, especially the rabbits chasing each other!I gave DB a wildlife camera for her birthday a few days before. Despite it being the model they use on Springwatch, all it's captured so far is the cats and me leaping out from behind a tree!Greencombe is known for its erythroniums, twopenny. They can be quite difficult, but a north facing slope and woodland might be ideal.Black_Cat2 despite my frequent discovery that cuttings and seeds have somehow lodged in my pockets when out visiting places, I do think it worthwhile seeking out named varieties of buddleia. My favourites are 'Dartmoor' (gets huge) and 'Pink Delight,' but there are many others, including those with better or more unusual foliage. We always found the yellow variety 'Honeycomb' would disappear fast if we put one out for sale. Not my personal favourite, but maybe harder to come by.And if you thought that last sculpture weird and likely to create nightmares.....5

Hope you slept well, Dave. Think they'd have crawled into my sleep somehow. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing3

Lol D, imagine bumping into those statues at night! Definitely would need counselling afterwards! 😹
My dead buddleia was a white one which I bought at the local garden centre, not sure of the name. Didn't seem to attract butterflies as much as a purple one I have but mostly hover flies and wasps. I'm thinking of dodging buying a white one again and might stick with a purple variety 🤔Just my opinion, no offence 🐈4 -
Black_Cat2 I had a white one, or more cream really which replaced a very old past it's best purple one.
I hated it, branches/flowers were white/off white for a few days and then went a yukky brown colour so it was never all white at the same time and just looked ugly. I chopped it down and have not replaced it yet but I do miss the butterflies although I also got lots more on the purple one. No idea of the variety.3
