How awful Taff, and being open spaces not easy to kill the blightersMakes my fruit snatching rats seem very minor in comparison.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens5

Aw no, taff, what a nightmare
I don't know what ptb is, but they sound a bit irresponsible to be honest. I hope you and the other allotment users can work together to get rid of the rats. Don't feel guilty, it wasn't your fault and it could have happened to anyone.

I’ve had to stop weeding and come inside because I’m just too tired and achy. I think I probably overdid it yesterday and my legs and glutes are complaining 😂
I got the tatties/purdies (thanks YBE) moved into the plastic hessian bags - same ones I used last year. I didn’t really want to grow tatties this year because of the landscaping work, so I’ll look after them, but maybe not as attentively as last year… shawshank 😉 Before I started digging one of the plants out I tried to move a ‘stone’ that was right next to it - it turned out to be a potato attached to the plant and a decent sized one too - no idea how I missed that last year 😂 that one and another one of the three escapees are red potatoes… maybe Roosters.
The deer 🦌 wasn’t in my garden, twopenny, it was on my walk to the post office. We have had sheep 🐑 wandering around the estate when someone left the gate open though - no plants were eaten then, but there were droppings all over the road 😂
Quite a disappointing day weather wise - it’s been cloudy pretty much all day and not as warm as yesterday. I think it’s time for a hot chocolate…'A watched potato will never chit'...7 -

PTB = (at a guess) 'Powers That Be, in this case, possibly the council? If so, I suggest they send in their vermin swat team PDQ, and FOC.Interesting accident you had with that Jeyes' Farway.Next Tuesday is showing as sunshine all the way by the Heavitree Halfwits. If they're right, this will not only be the month for the Chelsea chop, but also the Wisley whizz!I don't suppose you can recall the dilution strength, as applied? Brings to mind an old Irish religious poster I'd see, backalong...”Jeyes's Saves!” or something like that.

Bonus Poppy 😀
And I hope you've scraped up those droppings to go on the garden?
Interesting weather forecast Dusty. Fingers crossed for Fairway and me going on jollies next week. Achey bits allowing.
I got home from a lovely sunny outing for drain etc cleaning bits to find a present left that only a gardener would love
Perfectly rotted manure and compost mix and in clean bags.
I expected 2 at most. I'm thrilled. Got to get a thank you pressie and a half!I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Farway said:However, keep up the DGD work Pas, 'cos my horticultural DGD was invited to Beechgove during her year with MacRobert trust at Douneside, Aberdenshire.
There are another 2 of that variety so she need never know and I will try to recover it tomorrow

Only a quick go this morning, I've got to go into work early to let the window cleaner in.
Ha haa your deer shot is comical pp. It looks like she's saying "what have you got there? Is it for me? It's mine if it's edible. Is it a pie? Doesn't have to be a pie, I'll eat it anyway"
Yep I prefer being on here in the mornings 2p, I'm bu99ered in the evenings now. People are unrelenting condescending demanding entitled erseholes and it's not funny any more. Look at all your bags! That's a pure brilliant present that is
That's beautiful magnolia shot DustyGawd you can almost smell them!
Did you stumble past a running tap on your way to falling into them pots Farway...? Wondering if my ants will be similarly treated this weekend
Boo to not being allowed a go in Beechgrove, but thanks for the info pas. Makes sense I spose (see comment above about people, even though it'd hardly be the same crowd but why risk it?)
Ohh nooo taff, rats! IMO they should send out the ratman/woman for free to get yous back to normal. Sending an email telling you to mix it yourself really isn't good enoughCan your plants be saved..? I wouldn't feel a bit guilty if I was you, you can't be blamed for not assuming the council had changed their mix. You'd use it like you always used it, so this one's not on you. Disheartened yes, guilty no. Imo.
So next Tuesday is a right-off then, good to know. Probably more accurate than the sobers/drunkards/Tusky and that other one I started using that I can't remember the name of.
Oh and anyone who needs a laugh - I was reading the news thing that lives at the bottom of my computer screen yesterday. It had 2 weather stories - one about a 250ft wall of ice and snow that's coming in a few days, and right next to it was a story about a heatwave coming in a few days that'll beat the one we just had. So the people at emm ess enn dott comm are no nearer the mark than the professionals ones we use all the time :rolleyes:I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.7 -
What a wonderful gift 2p! It gives “Spread the love!” a new meaning.Coincidentally, I barrowed 5 loads of manure/composted chippings into the border area cleared earlier in the week, but that's as far as I got yesterday within the garden. I suddenly remembered not completely clearing-up the last bits of hedge maintenance from the lower field.
These were fast-disappearing under the amazing growth of the grass at this time of year. So...two hours later, it was all gathered together, but so heavy, the ride-on was required to drag the dumpy bags up the hill.
Meanwhile, Mrs D was selecting plants to go into the border space we've made. Magnolia stellata is one which has been waiting patiently in a pot for some years now.Just a quick post this morning. There are so many flowers coming into bloom now it's hard to choose a photo, but insects love these, and their less showy wild cousins:OT: Our friends down in Exeter are predicting no frost for us in the coming week, and no strong winds either. I may go for it outdoors with a couple of courgettes."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity8 -
Warming up, sunny & wind has dropped. I may also go for at least clearing a space for cucs & a tom or two.Our last frost date has passed, so no worries there, just cold winds to think about.Dustyevsky said:Interesting accident you had with that Jeyes' Farway.Next Tuesday is showing as sunshine all the way by the Heavitree Halfwits. Wondering if my ants will be similarly treated this weekendI'd be extra careful cleaning patios if pots have edibles in, and if you do stumble try to avoid getting it on any foliageI remember eating the neighbour's carrots that he had used JF on for carrot fly, It was OK and advisable to use back in those far off, innocent days, along with red lead powder & DDT.We used to eat raw carrots, and could certainly catch the tang of JF on them.I suppose cooked would be OK, like boiling in very diluted JF.My PC says sunshine next week, at least on Tuesday, hope so, it's rain that would be a bummer, dull is OKI've still not fathomed out what the seedlings are coming up at the front, I must have sprinkled the seeds but blowed if I can remember what they were.I have some coming up in cracks and I did try Erigonsomethings & lobelias in there, maybe it's them?Very healthy looking, though. Time will reveal all.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens6
