Forgot to refresh and Dusty jumped in before me...
The elderberry flowers are lovely and the leaves look nice too. The name is amusing
Ah yes, goldfinches. I knew it wasn't pas or taff with the walled allotment.'A watched potato will never chit'...5 -
Just sat on the back step drinking hot chocolate and a robin appeared on the fence. Then another… ❤️❤️

Turned much colder today, cutting wind as well.Same as Dusty's by the sound of it, and 50% chance of rain this afternoonI was thinking about planting out some toms & cucs, but not so sure now, I may hold off for a few days until it passes.Maybe a pottering doddering about dayAll went well over birthday gathering, no GC, just chatting & catching up.DS with brown thumbs has apples on the tree bought from sleazy online purveyor, and plums from same SOP.Makes you wonder at times, these trees are in pots and not watered for a month while they went on holiday last year and dried out. AmazeballsMy Wisley visit is booked next week, you'll know the day, it'll be the wet & windy oneI admit to liking Lords & Ladies, I have some, confined & not spreading. A bit like the winter aconites, I can indulge because they're not a problem for me. Unlike Goose grass, coming up everywhere and PIA sticking to me wherever I wander.YoungBlueEyes said:I do keep my mouth shut quite a lot at work tbh - the main one that gets me is the aforementioned solicitor (I'll call her Rose as this is the gardening thread) telling people to put inherited houses into their name 'so it'll sell quicker' and then charging them handsomely for it, without ever mentioning the downsidesPlenty of jobs about, but sort of jobs where Juniors are expected to have five years experience and work for free / peanuts while "Daddy" subs themWell done on spotting the nest PPSeeing your, refreshed, photos, I may just creep out in the cold garden with my camera, I need to water the apple in a pot, so then will be the timeI like the look of that elderberry Dusty, no room here, but I'd grow that oneI'll try & see some at Wisley next week, given me an idea now because DD was saying she wanted something to put in one of her beds when we were taking about wisteria trees.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens7

Blooming cold here too, from recent 'too hot to sleep ' to too cold to want to go out. Same cutting wind.
I may try and plonk my two purchased tomato plants in if I can dig a space as they are making flowers already, I don't want to put them with my others because of whatever is causing the white patches between veins.
I need to have a go at the block pavers that won't fit. It's on the north east side in the shade so not keen. But today is the last day no one will step on them before they dry.
Enjoying the pics.
A real pleasure watching birds etc with a coffee in the garden.
Only topped by eating something with jam you made from the plot.
It's what gardens are made for 🙂
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on

We've got that same icy wind here, and I'm attaching vine eyes and wire to the fence for the clematis to climb up. It's not fun.8

I’m weeding in full sun ☀️ wearing long sleeves because I’m fair-skinned and burn easily - absolutely roasting hot 🥵 Funny how the weather can be so different up and down the country…'A watched potato will never chit'...8

Look at the colour of that sky… 💙

I forgot to post pictures taken last Thursday while scoffing fish & chips in the car. So, before the memory of last week's heatwave fine weather fades, here are a few from the rolling hills, somewhere north of where the Met Office sots engage in their devious weather sorcery.
Two robins usually = male & female if they're co-existing peaceably at this time of year pp.

Not so Arctic today and actually better than forecast. Warm sun but very chilly whenever it clouded over.
Cracked the greenhouse tetris, secret weapon child labour.
9 year old DGD removed every plant from greenhouse, watered them while I cleaned it to remove spiders and spilled compost.
She put all the plants back at ground level and I then fitted in my newly repotted 11 tomato plants, 9 on staging and 2 on floor
They were so leggy in the house I don't think they could have waited much longer
Will also make it easier for me to see what I have when I start planting from this weekend onwards
Feeling optimistic, still lots more weeding to do but hey ho it's only 5th May9
