I like the colours on your bathroom geranium (?), and the pot it's in, and the cool blue tiles you have
Belated happy burfday to MrsD too, even if it was non-profitable. Lego flower kits! Shouldn't really be surprised they got in on the act, the silk/plastic ones are bladdy everywhere so why not get a slice of that moolah market.
Wort and Bluey, that geranium's a fake! It's a good one, though, and not a cheapo jobber.
Trust no one on the interweb; especially not those who may make promises they won't keep. Mrs Dusty still has her official pension forecast from backalong, when she was told, "You have enough contributions for a full pension when you're 65." She's since had to pay a few thousand £ more, and wait another year.Yes, the Rosemoor sitooterie has one tub of daffs/narcissi among the tulips. I was taking pictures of their daffs before Christmas, so they've managed a long display with them! I still have a few daff photos, so I'd better pop them up before they go unseasonal.Today's weather looks grim, from one end to the other.A strong easterly wind and rain, sometimes heavy. The car said 4c when I went out to buy a paper for our guests, (definitely not for us!
) and although it errs on the pessimistic side, there's a marked change from yesterday, when I survived in a T shirt. Like some of you, today I'll be pirking-out in the warmth of the polytunnel, and maybe constructing a new deep bed in there.
Here you are, a white daff called 'Thalia' in the Mediterranean Garden:And a verrry yellow one, with no name:Not buying into it.8 -
Umming & Ahhing on should I water the pots or not? Ex Dusty rain due to arrive here early afternoon, but if I don't water, it will head Norf & miss me.I'll chance it & not water, I can always do it tomorrow, like most of my gardening these days. The chillis did get plicked out, leggy beetroot now left to sink or swim outside.Golden delicious apple was watered & bird bath topped upWell done 2P on apricots! My plums are on strike in sympathy with Blueys, no sign of plumlets, again
Can't blame the weather this year though, and I saw plenty of insects, and supposed to be self fertile.
I'll give it a bit, longer, just in case there are hidden plums lurking.Flower buds swelling on the Merton blackberry, and the Helen one.No sign of anything like buds on the Boysenberry, but I don't know what they would look like, never had one before. Not too concerned just yet because the Autumn raspberries don't yet have buds either, and raspberry is somewhere in the heritage of Boysenberry. The grapes are just starting to leaf up, no flowers yet awhile, tad earlyNice daffs there Dusty, I had Thalia once, legged it to the fjords of course, eloped with Prof Einstein I think.Pics at last, apple blossom. Seems short on bees this year, so hoping something gets pollinated, or this blossom is a just a tease. You can just spot the white blossom of a neighbour's pollinating crab apple in the background, centre topEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens8 -
Indeed it is raining and dropped from 8 to 7c feeling like the heating should be on but I'm loathe.
My water buckets are full.
Nowhere to go on a wet bank holiday.
Plums here have no flowers except the two branches on neighbours side. I asked if she'd like me to prune them or else she could have plums. She pulled a face and said what are they like? 😬
You cheat Dusty! False flowers indeed! And there were we admiring your plant prowess.
Hope the domestic detritus goes smoothly Bluey. I did most of mine last week. It all comes as one deluge at this time of year.
Looks like the weather is fine oop north of us so I'm guessing everyone else is busy eating Easter eggs.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

2p - it's hot cross bun day today! Easter egg day is on Sunday!
My baby apples and pear have signs of blossom (the big apple tree has blossom, but thankfully not too much after being given a major haircut). None on the plums or mulberry - but then all of them were planted in the last few weeks.
So far all my baby trees are doing well bar one (prunus nigra, which I need to email the suppliers about), as are the fig and thornless blackberry. It's going to be hard work if we have a dry year though! Hopefully the bits for my IBCs will turn up soon and I can work out a way to get water off the shed and into them. Once those three are set up I'll work out where to put the last one.9 -
I thought Dusty’s flowers were real too 😂
I really want a clematis called Jingle Bells now, twopenny. Congratulations on the apricots - they look promising. Hope you’re fully recovered from your fall.
Thank you to wort and taff for the calla lily information. It’s inside at the moment (pic to follow).
Beautiful blossom, Farway, makes me more determined to plant some trees this year.
Waves to YBE 👋🏻 I’m guessing you’ve got a lovely long weekend off work.
I’ve had a busy few days, with trips to Ayrshire and a mini booze cruise to Mull (pic from ferry to follow).
What a complete change in the weather though - torrential rain in Ayrshire (was worried about the Rest & Be Thankful being closed as it quite often is in bad weather) and we stood outside on the ferry to Mull in a freezing cold wind 🥶 we were sensible and sat inside on the way back though 😂 We didn’t get the rain that was forecast last night and there was a stunning sunset - it was nice to see folk stood watching it unfold. I didn’t get a pic this time as I was a bit tipsy haha. I was hoping to get out into the garden this afternoon, but we have drizzle forecast.

I’ve inherited some more pots. Can anyone identify the plants for me, please??

Ooh, thank you Dusty (autocorrect nearly had you as Dude 😂) I was hoping one was going to be a peony, as I thought the leaves looked familiar, but two would be even better 😄 I’ve heard of Dogwood so I’ll check that - I think I’ll have to repot it or plant it somewhere in the garden because it’s already quite tall for the size pot. I didn’t spot the potential choisya - I’ll have a good look when it stops raining…'A watched potato will never chit'...6

Just a thought for Bluey as she metioned Labrodors and wanting a detached house. It's beside a river at the bottom of the garden and the pub is 5mins away. Sea is half an hour on an almost traffic free road and you'll see deer and wild ponies on the way. There's actually 6 labs there and a spaniel. The dogs went in one at a time on name command - but I see a little bit of disention there from an older labOh Poppy, a local booze cruise sounds lovely - and all those peonys too !Wonderful photos too. Thanks for posting somewhere that;s not rain and fog.Unfortunately I deleted the photo of neighbours Jingle Bells that showed it to it's best. Mine is rummaging around in the climbing rose but I hope to find a way to make it bunch up at one end. This was in December.

Did I say a I wanted a pair of labs..? Now I've seen your photo 2p I want all those labs and any loose spaniels thankyouplease
Also that house, and the river. And I'll bring my screwdriver cos that trellis wants righting
I can see why they call your clematis Jingle Bells, they do look like wee bells eh. How's the injuries coming along? Are your bruises all funny colours..?
Those Thalia look like albino Jetfires Dusty, clouds of those all among each other would be goodAnd imagine your geran pelargonium being fake
Sure fooled me. Gawd pensions - I'm not sure even sure it's worth the bother now with mine. I'll have to marry himself just to make sure I've something to come.
Our apple blossoms look the same Farway, all puffy and happy and creamy pinkishNowt on my plum yet either but it's early yet I think? Well named is yours, it's reet Champion!
So if yesterday was Hot Cross Bun Day and tomorrow is Easter Egg Day, what's today gb? And also what's an IBC? Hopefully the bits will turn up today :fingerscrossed: I'm sure there's post today isn't there? There's no post on Good Friday or Christmas Day, and no newspapers either iirr.
/me waves to pp I like your lily whatever breed it is, and I love your view from the ferryThat water looks cold though!
I was only for doing a short post his morning so I could put pics on that I meant to do yesterday. We ended up going to the beach and by god it was properly ear-hurtingly windyDid get these pics though -
A whole big planter thing full of fluffy daisies! -One of the cherry trees at the end of my road is producing clouds of blossom. It makes my heart smile-
OT - cool out there, feels like is 2' but it's actually 8'. They say. The sobers have given cloud all day and the drunkards are going with wall-to-wall sunny. Bless 'em. As long as the breeze keeps up for I've a wash about ready to go out.
Edit - here is this weeks absolutely free absolutely madey-uppy story that didn't happen. When you're after an update on how your purchase is going, don't ring and tell the phone-answerer that your solicitor must ring you back within the next 5 minutes. Especially if your reason is that you're actually in Spain at the mo playing Secret Bingo, and if he leaves it any longer than that you'll be too drunk to answer the phone
Ooh and another - don't listen to your estate agent when they tell you to go into the office and demand the final contracts etc to be printed out so you can fill it in now, so you can complete today and get moved in over the Easter hols. That is not how it works. Estate agents are shipbags. As I suspected, somebody has been adding soil to my garden. The plot thickens...7
