Morning all.
Today is supposed to be a wet one, and the air has that 'heavy' feeling, so I reckon they're right. Again it's supposed to be around 8 degrees, but there's no wind so it just feels cool and still.
I had a look to see if there was anything I could take interesting pictures off, but it's like everything is just *waiting* for the world to warm up
Comments on the thread did inspire me to go look at my rhubarb (Timperly early supposedly) and both plants are awake/just broken the surface, but even they are still buttoned down tight.
I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.9 -
I have three rhubarbs @ArbitraryRandom. Bet I can’t work out which one is which…7

The forecast is blustery rain, though, so I'm not likely to get out to check any progress in the garden.Yes, blue skies here this morning, but a gusty wind is whipping cloud and rain towards us from the SW, allegedly.
I've mucked-out the hens and done some other chores, so it can do what it likes now.I'm sitting here, trying to think up some hard-sounding quiz questions that really aren't too bad for people in my approximate age groupeg. What hit single of 1966 featured a prime number and a mental health crisis in its title?(Looks out of window and sees more sunshine and blue skies)I went for another mooch around, but the polytunnel was too noisy and the garden too cold, due to the searing wind, so here I am again....uninspired.With few new photos, and certainly none from next year,I shall sign off for now with this picture, taken after the Sycamore Gap tree was in the news. It's not a sycamore and there's no Roman construction nearby, but it looked 'meaningful' at the time. I believe one of the half dozen turbines caught fire and destroyed itself last week, and I'll bet they're static today because we're definitely having the "wrong kind of wind."
PS £30 pocket camera job. :/If you open it in a new window, it'll look twice as bad!"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity8 -

Wet/dry/cold./ brightBy the time I'd had a loooong wait and exam at Specsavers and looked for some stuff no time to garden.Did find that garlic tabs cost from £5-£20 and Turmeric £20 so time to work out how to (grow it) use it fresh without stinky breath. I know orange peel will remove smell of alchohol. Wonder if it will do the same for fresh garlic?Hissing down again and wind got up.On the up side a lot of pale Crocus were up in the local public gardens.Makes up for the plum blossom being blown off the trees. They never produced any more. Cant;' say I blame them.Meanwhile I've been looking at how to make things more interesting. This is something I thought was really good year round and just up from me.Been looking at structure - making paving more interesting but lovely though they are no one seems to have the problem of multiple drain covers, washing lines and such and no where a dumping ground neat store for pots, canes, compost and such
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

That would be a turn up, we shall see.

pink_poppy said:Dusty, 19th nervous breakdown by the Rolling Stones, according to my DH….Please congratulate him!I suppose this revolves around knowing about prime numbers and guessing it probably wouldn't be a high one, like: "53rd Panic Attack." Also bear in mind, this was 1966, when psychological terminology wasn't trendy, like now, and its vocabulary in the public domain was limited. So you've got panic attack, nervous breakdown, and just a few others, some probably frowned upon now (!) to choose from. That was one of my harder questions. There have to be a few, With up to 6 in a team, the chance of someone knowing the easy ones is high. I'm aiming for most teams to get around 70% right.2p, while consuming ginger, turmeric, cayenne pepper etc has claimed benefits, it's important to remember that some of these ingredients may not be easily absorbed. Turmeric, for example, isn't, unless paired with something else I can't state here, because it would possibly be seen as medical advice, but it's easily researched.LessImpecunious said:PS Can't get Dusty's quiz q either -obviously I'm too young
I took into account the age range of those likely to participate. Not much good asking 'em what mental disorder Chappell Roan is alleged to suffer from!
pp I hope yesterday wasn't too difficult for you.

More dull & rain, forecast is a bit of a breather then repeat tomorrowNever managed to get out to have a check around, and unlikely to do so today, itching to get going now but too wet.I like those steps 2P, but I reckon keeping your balls in shape could be a PIAPS, could you fit a handrail for me when I visit please?I have a mystery, some seeds of unknown origin have been unearthed in a Safe Place.Obviously, I put them safely away and knew what they were at the time, now I've no idea. Look about radish sized seeds, but not radish AFAIK. I'll just have to sow them & see what comes up.I've also found my Love in a Mist packet, I'll sow them at the front once I get round to planting the Japanese anemones. Fingers crossed this year the squirrels don't get in there digging the LIAM like last year.Ta Ra!! My Christmas 2023 amaryllis has buds
. It has sat forlornly neglected on my window sill, baked in summer and sometimes watered. Zero TLC was administered, so no one more surprised than me when I spotted this yesterday.
