Farway said:twopenny said:Meanwhile we have beavers installed to create a sink for excess rain. So far so good.Trouble is they are reproducing and wanting new terratory and their favourite food is the fruit tree. Major conservation orchard just down the road.....................does anyone look more than one step ahead?Cane toads, anybody?Hope car is an easy problem Dusty, fingers crossedI've no experience of cane toads, but I once captured a 5lb terrapin, attempting to hide in a stream smaller than ours. Had to go about that carefully, as one that size can remove a finger, or two!The car is probably thermostat, but I've looked at the location, decided I'm neither acrobat, nor gynaecologist, and passed the job to our expensive friendly local mechanics.Glad the filtering has cleared-up for you. Amaryllis looks err....perky! (knew it was something beginning with 'p'!

Good morning everyone,
I'm so pleased you are now permanent staff YBE - I have a friend who used to work there and she said they are very fair and supportive to good staff (less so to shirkers!). Your pomander has survived 7 weeks YBE and still has life in it I reckon. Mine is doing ok, still green and being used as a hideout for small birds when using the fatball feeder!
I love beavers 2P - such industrious creatures but always amazes me too that these project managers don't think further than their nose end! Us humans need rest Arb so a pootly kind of day never does anyone any harm!
I can feel change in the weather over the last couple of days - this is the sunrise as I set off for a beach sauna yesterday - first one of the year and it was amazing to get really cold and then warm back up again! The frosty ice covering had gone from the ground, trees etc whilst walking Rome0 yesterday but the ground was still rock hard and unforgiving.
My friend has a new puppy so thought I'd give the dog lovers a hit of dopamine (looking at you YBE!). Ain't she a beauty
I am impressed with your amaryllis Farway - I love them, such striking plants. My Book Club has an annual competition - we were each given one in 2020 and two of us still have ours flowering every year since then! Neglect seems to be the key! I pop it in the garage after flowering and then get it back out again in mid-November!
I think you have the patience of a saint Dusty dealing with your neighbour. It becomes a game after a while doesn't it.
OT it is cold here, 3 or 4' but there is a wind blowing so is feeling much chillier.
Wishing everyone a productive day!

Well that's a prize winning picture if ever I saw one WM!How adorable is that puppyI have a photo of my best boy looking like that when he got shut out in the snow. I took a photo before I let him in - cruel mumWe had a sunrise here today at last! And at 8am. And it was light enough to go for a walk around 5pm. So yes, things are looking up.Having said that, no sign of the double digits and sun that was promised. It's blanket thick white cloud and staggered up to 7c with a bitter North wind.So gardening or any other activity, apart from an Abs look, was out.Dusty, hang onto the car and don't cry. My old car, it turns out, was in better condition than the newer one it turns out. The boot is rubbish for taking garden waste to recycling. The boot doesn't stay up for rust etc, never thought to check that on a car that hasn't done 32,000 miles. It's going in and the list is growing. I saw my little purple people eater is still there. Tempted.Yes to the photo of Tarr Steps, it confirms what I thought. I have one of me and a friend crossing the cables but they were a lot closer to the water. Sadly I don't have a scan of it.Bluey, oh I found the ashtray after your description. I thought it was a refillable coffee mug. Really weird idea
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I think you have the patience of a saint Dusty dealing with your neighbour.I remember reading somewhere that God gave humans dogs so they would truly understand the concept of unconditional love. The neighbour is quite formidable in looks and stature, so being patient comes quite easily.twopenny said:Dusty, hang onto the car and don't cry. Amaryllis looks good Farway, but if its anything like my mum's (which was on a cool E-facing windowsill) it will have done its thing and flopped within 10 days...hope yours remains "perky" for longer!..7

That’s a beautiful dawn Dusty, distinct lack of poles in them trees
Puppy! WANT! 😍
Glad you found your ashtray 2p, I was going to offer you mine if you wanted it. Rust on a car that’s only done that many miles… has it been sat about the place or summat?
Fingers crossed your amaryllis gets a bit of breadth and no it’s too early for smut ha haa!Speaking of the licence fee - we had a fellah come in yesterday. He’s heard that Mr Multi-Tier wants to attach it to the council tax so no one can get out of paying it and wanted some advice. Dunno if that’s true or not mind. Big boss man said it was probably technically possible but unlikely. Shipbags. You heard it here first. Thanks for the CF tip 2p, I loved the sculptures and could happily make room for any of themBrilliant.
OT warmer.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.8 -
YBE love your signature 😂
Dusty yours makes me sing it when I see it. I would be in that water if I tried crossing via the cables.
Farway well done rescuing the Amaryllis, we had them reduced to 80 p but I didn’t get one.
Snow and Ice gone now yea 🎊 Misty at the moment and fog showing in spurts over next couple of days. Next snow showing Friday 24 th. Hoping to walk today not far and including lunch and chat.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.8 -

You heard it here first.Oh, ve hef polz too, but I am hiding zem!As for the other matter, it wouldn't surprise me, considering said person's obvious aims and objectives. While, it would be tacitly admitting the Corporation had become a compromised organ of the State, many of us spotted that some years ago, hence the dwindling support. Poor Mrs Dusty can't even bring herself to watch Strictly these days!wort said:YBE love your signature 😂
Dusty yours makes me sing it when I see it.The cables over the R Barle aren't too hard to negotiate, but the consequences of falling are more serious for 'mature' people, especially if the water is very cold.Locals swim in the river.(see below) We prefer to do that further upstream, above the settlements!
After promising us some sunshine, the Exeter alcoholics have retracted that this morning and offered 'overcast' with the compensation of (perhaps) reaching double digits. My latest sowings of lettuce and other cut and come agains have germinated, but I'm not being tempted to plant more than that yet. Looking longer term, there doesn't seem to be anything particularly good or bad in their predictions for us down here."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Bright, but not sunny IYSWIM. Dry & cold still.Another one here who actually saw sunrise instead of grey gloom, , photo, taken with my phone, below.Aww, what a lovely puppy pic WM.YoungBlueEyes said:Fingers crossed your amaryllis gets a bit of breadth and no it’s too early for smut ha haa!Speaking of the licence fee - we had a fellah come in yesterday. You heard it here first.Amaryllis is still perky!I've heard those rumours about Licence, I will feel robbed if it happens because stopped buying one last year.I think some furriners add it to local taxes. There is a political solution to reforming the TV fee of course,The new car sounds somewhat disappointing 2P, hope it resolves itself, at east the increase in Road tax won't be too panful for youNo gardening today, nothing urgent & still too cold & damp for me reallyEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens9

Not a lot to report and lost my last postIt is at least - 10c here today
and sunshine no wind in the morning. Obvs no heat in it to dry the ground but still.............
Missed it because I had the plumber man cometh = Yay! andAfternoon dull with mist, the sunshine was on the moors but new car grinding on a brake pad so I'm not going up there.Car in garage for fixing.Maybe tomorrow .............??Went for a walk round the ponds with camera but there were only a few ducks. The birds aren't daft, they're keeping warm somewhere too. It's supposed to be the same tomorrow. I may cut back the Jasmine and Lavender that have gone mad with growth if it is.Did watch with amusement, my intelligent pigeon trying to work out how to have a bath in the little pond.He had a lick wash instead but looked like that was better than nothing.Of course I then decided to make a proper little pond with a shelf so the birds could bathe. All that an me barely able to walkHave a photo anyway, we need some cheering upPonies rolling in joy, even in winter.Yup, only one rolling - I spent ages but they're darn quick and I'm not. Some of the ponies just looked as much as 'why all the energy when you could eat'I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
