I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.7

YoungBlueEyes said:I know what you mean about getting squiggly selling a '...tired...' car to a real person Less. I know all these things are caveat emptor but my conscience wouldn't let me do it, it'd be no good for your karma.
Went for a test drive in a little micra yesterday, bag of spanners with no poke about itI asked the fellah would he take my jalopy as a part ex for something and he said he could go no higher than £100
and he didn't know where I'd got it from about the mot being worth £300 but that's not true. He said. So I'll get me back box done and see where I am. I'd have thought my car was desirable too Dusty cos you don't see many 1.3 GL's but that ain't translating into £££.
My 4x4 was 'tired,' which is why it went to the scrappy. One thing is fixable, but three things, or more.....First place I contacted said £180. An online quote from somewhere with good reviews was £250, and being localish, I accepted it.
I've had a Micra as a courtesy car. Same conclusion as you.As for desirability, I just meant the sporty image, the Jap reliability aura, and the appeal to younger drivers with not much wonga. They wouldn't touch our pensionermobile with a 10' pole, even though it's a Fiesta 1.6 in disguise!OT. Still sunny

I'm considering getting everything done on it actually, cos that'd not cost what I'd spend on another car and then I'd have a perfectly fine car. Or maybe a Fabia or a little Polo or summat. Apparently I need a 16v something cos that equates to poke.
Ooh I need to check me Rottery ticket first though, in case I can go shopping for a Morgan!
Not a winner. Not a single bladdy number actually *sigh*I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.8 -
Had my lie in, good job clocks went back so getting uptime seemed normalActually managed a real shower this morning, and feeling nearly normal, but I can still sense my knee trying to go wonky so won't spend too long siting at my computer deskI would have settled for wormer or spot flea treatment Dusty, even WD 40. Can't use to Ibo salve stuff, seems it soaks in and "may" stop my ticker medicines as well, so too may ifs & maybe for me to get involved at my precarious time of life.Looking into Tiger Balm though, not a recommend etc, but I have an affinity for it since my Navy days in the Far East. Tiger Balm gardens in Singapore & Hong Kong were, and are, a big attraction. Be great photos ops these days. It's crisp & sunny morning here as well, not going out, but may attempt bin bag into wheelie bin later, which will be be my step climbing test.YoungBlueEyes said:I'm considering getting everything done on it actually, cos that'd not cost what I'd spend on another car and then I'd have a perfectly fine car. Better the Devil you knowI had a Polo, but it was Skoda badged so cheaper.I'd love a Morgan, not that I could ever get or out of one these daysDustyevsky said:Chops is honest
He uses a lot of clickbait headlines, though!
I warned 2p about the wet belts in the Ford and Peugeot eco engines a while ago. Shocking! Battery cars would be the next mis-selling scandal, if governments weren't all chasing net zero. Good on Toyota for saying they won't build an all-electric any time soon.Hope the knee eases soon.My YT travels reveal next EV scandal is numbers of new cars sold don't match records of new cars registered. Some wicked allegations about the £15K fines per car that would be levied for every unsold EV after 2023, who would've thunk that manufactures would register a car to avoid a £15K fine?Knee easing, but I'm revering to horizontal in a minute because I can feel twinges.Managed to get a pic of my Canna's new flower spike, via open window and zoom lensImage is correct, just tarted up frame etcEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens8 -
Wonderful stars Bluey. Thanks for showing them. I have seen one or two lately but clearer skies mean colder nightsYes, I have Dustys advice on a sticky on my computer screen and not looked at any 'eco' ones. They seem to be coming on the second hand market a lot. Ditto, a lot of people reverting to old Fiestas and Golfs round here. If it's any help, last year the prices of sh cars dropped like a stone after Christmas. I'm waiting and hoping it's the same this year but like you'all my mot comes just before
I'll probably get the rust done because, the same, wild difference in price/cost.
Sunny this morning, no pain yesterday evening or this morning but as soon as I started clearing out the garage it ramped up considerably which is why I'm on the 'puter and car loaded for the tip. Hoping for a miracle cureWellies out warming in the hope of doing something in the back garden today but it all depends on the cramp. So tip and shops (in gardening clothes) then after lunch we'll see. Ditto the Tiger Balm. Or the south african cream. Worth a try. Camomile is supposed to help but then you end up asleepLove that Canna Farway. What exotic colours. I'd have that right by the windowI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Ooh I need to check me Rottery ticket first though, in case I can go shopping for a Morgan!Funny you should say that. Long story, but as a spotty yoof new in the office, I joined their pools syndicate. First week, a colleague rang me at my hostel to say we'd won; only 8 draws that week, and he was certain we had 'em all! We'd be rich! Yay!
Unfortunately, the bloke with the plan or perm thing was away for the weekend....
This was London and the Motor Show was on. Fuelled by my new-found 'wealth' I headed straight for the Morgan stand and asked to try the Plus 8.That was the first disappointment. It was huge!
! The steering wheel was like being at the helm of a ship! And being small, I could barely see over the bonnet.
I suddenly felt very silly and left quickly.
The second disappointment was early on Monday. We only had 7 draws and an away win.So did others. It was a nice sum, but not life-changing, especially shared among 7 or 8 of us.
I withdrew from the syndicate after that experience, and in a few months more, I threw in the job too!

Another one horizontal and in the 'unwell' corner here
I'm typing this very slowly as I seem to have been struck down with vertigo or something similar
came on out of the blue about 10am and still lingering.
Glad you're getting better, Farway. Tiger balm stinks and stains (I have it for my dodgy ankles) but I do feel like it makes a difference. Lovely Canna flower.
I was going to type a witty comment about YBE's stars, but I started to feel ill not long after I'd seen them. Very pretty though. I can't remember if it was last night or this morning you took the photos, but we had a clear night last night and the aurora made another appearance...
It was like this for about 4 hours, until the clouds and rain moved in just after midnight.
That's probably enough for now - I hope I'm over this horrible dizziness and nausea soon.'A watched potato will never chit'...7 -
Bluey, I missed your earlier post with the star pictures, and that lovely composition with the blackbirds silhouetted in a bush.
Looking at the stars, I thought how any of them could have planets with intelligent garden-lovers, sending messages to each other through the ether......
My message to pp this morning is simple: "Get well soon."Apparently, vertigo can come and go quickly, often without much obvious reason, or it can be related to cold & flu viruses...but I expect you know that.
Here, it's a grey start with drizzle and 13c, which is tolerable for those staying overnight in the caravan. The rest of their week seems to be shaping-up better than today, with 16c or more possible. The 'good weather emergency' seems to be continuing, and in the garden, some plants are confused. Here's the first in a small selection of 'Plants that Shouldn't Be Flowering Now'Normally, the only thing you'd do with Sweet Cicely at this time is either use the seeds in cooking or put them outdoors to be frosted. They won't grow if not absolutely fresh, unless overwintered in the soil.Hope the other folks on the injury bench are now running up and down the touchline again, even if not back in the match yet.Canna??? What canna? ......................Only joking!"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity6 -
Thanks, Dusty. Still feeling yuk this morning so will phone the Dr at 8.30am to see if I can get a telephone consultation - I don't fancy trying to walk there as I'm still feeling wobbly and nauseous.

Fingers crossed the quack can see you pp, or at least prescribe something over the phone. I took the star pics yesterday morning but the angle won't have helped your squiggliness. Sorry
I love your aurora pic, I never tire of them
That's a beautiful thought - gardens sending messages to (or taking photos of) each other across the ether, I love that. Could possibly be true too... *happy sigh* So what's your pensionermobile then Dusty? I don't care what clothes it's in if it's a decent car, and a 1.6 Fiesta would do me rightly... I've flowers in my garden that I don't think should still be going, but ignorance has stopped me putting up pics in case it's normal ha haa! Persicaria - that's going on my list. They look like diddy starburstsShame about the Morgan, but the syndicate story made me chuckle!
Glad your improving Farway, hopefully it'll continueI've never heard of Tiger Balm gardens, I'll look that up cos it sounds interesting. I can see why you're all about cannas, that one looks like something you'd find in a rainforest
Speaking of interesting, what's your south african cream 2p? I wish I had a miracle cure for stuff, cos it'd do us al rightly. Honestly, we don't make a whole one between us do weWellies out warming, I love that
Did your cramp ease enough to get in the garden?
OT bit dull and nothingy out there really. Mild 14'c with a slowly dying breeze but it'll be dry now after the overnight rain. Possibly.
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6
