Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Those bees look fairly harmless, but I wouldn't like them in my grass, YBE, especially in those numbers. Aggregation is such a good word.
Shame about the car fail - seems to be becoming the norm here, which is worrying because our MOT is due next month.
Hope you enjoy your walk with Handsome dug.
That's disappointing about your body bits, twopenny, it sounded like you'd been on the mend. Hopefully just a temporary setback.
I managed to capture some better photos of the moon last night, but I like this 'barely there' moon pic I took this morning before it disappeared completely...
Another gorgeous sunny day here. I would love to be outside weeding, but next door have got a workman in and his choice of radio station/music leaves a lot to be desired. I'll have to do some domestic nonsense instead and maybe go for a walk before it gets too warm - I could do with a wee dug for a bit of company'A watched potato will never chit'...4 -
Sorry, I missed your post there, Dusty. What a pain that the neighbours are still trying to cause problems for you and Mrs Dusty. Do you know what the trees are?? I'm just hoping they're not going to end up huge and cause issues in years to come'A watched potato will never chit'...4

Sorry to hear about the car Bluey. Hope it's not as bad as you suspect. Hopefully a walk with Handsome among the trees and some optomistic gardening for the future can restore equilibriumDusty I like that Gom-whatsit, I'm going to look that up. Lovely Buddleia too. A much underated plant because of it's bad habits. Perhaps someone should breed one with infertile flowers.Weather not good here. Dark, grey with strong Northerly sometimes Easterly wind. Even the workmen over the road are subdued.Still trying to work out what to do today. Leg spasam may dictate that. Crazy, it couldn't possibily be 2 days of over doing it too soon

Morning folks, bright, sunny & a bit breezy. You can knock me down wiv a fever & 'cor blimey Guv.
I spent some time yesterday looking into Car Options, alternative taxi, or buy another car, etc
Sorted out RAC details for when I phone them this morning, all to handCharged up my battery booster thingy in case battery goes phut. And, lo, the blooming thing started first time this morning.Goodness knows what was wrong, and it tootled around the block just fine. I'm off to a volunteer meeting this afternoon, so let's hope it is still working then. The only thing I can think of is maybe a Gremlin in magic ECU or fuel had evaporated in the "pipes"YoungBlueEyes said:My philosopher's axe
I've had an email back from the Beekeepers Association, and he's said what he thinks they are. They don't come and get them apparently - the BKA is a bunch of hobbyists trying to get others to keep bees, so why that woman from the council told me to ring them I don't know. But the council don't do bees no matter what or where they are so I'll have to live with them. I won't say what the fellah thinks they are in case anyone wants to have a guess...It's none of your suggestions 2p, unless you've used the latin term for the name the fellah used. Aggregations - that's lovelyThat's my new word for today.
Mild and cloudy here, no sunrises or sunsets or aurora or moons to report. Still and humid and nothingy all day, possibly.
Perambulation of the Handsome Beast today and then I really have to get some weeding done. And plant the bulbs I found when I was rootling about in the conservatory looking for photos. I've got 2 apples ripen (finally!) and I can't say I recommend them. They're like biting into 2 different apples, at first the juice is sweet but then it's tart and not in a nice cleans your mouth out way. The flesh is a bit woolly too. However the yellow rasps are much nicer - like a fragrant raspberry. If you'd put one in your mouth without looking at it you'd think it was like a rasp with a bit of something else. Very pleasantThe only thing to remove bees is a Black or Honey Bear, or Winnie at a pushWhat variety is your not nice apple? That's a shame, as you waited so long. Always stew or crumble, though, sugar improves everything, as does custard.Yellow rasps, told you so. Not that we are likely to have enough, ever, but yellow ones make lovely raspberry jam, far superior to the common red stuff.
twopenny said:Darn Farway, but a good excuse for another day out. Love the prarie planting. Is it as easy to maintain as it looks?Sitting here trying to recover from all this unaccoustomed walking. Woke up fine but I need to pace myself as per told I guess. It's still a case of fingers crossed as I'm without pain even if it's all a bit iffy and will it last? Still at least I've had a bit of my old self back so it's good to know it can happenI know what you mean with the walking, yesterday for me was getting over Wisley walking around, but at least knowing the limits is a start.Dusty, trees are no problem, the two very old oaks, with TPOs, at the volunteer spot are coming down soon with the OK from council. There was a bit from local councillor about trees, comes down to, as usual, money. Can't afford to fight a massive insurance company and lose after they appeal, and then council taxpayer have to cough up costs, taking cash from say Special needs transport, or PM's specsOne bit of Good News ref the TPO tree felling, the subsidence insurance company has agreed to cover all our costs, including compulsory planting of replacements. Maybe they will call it a Charity donation or whatever, but it will save us thousands of pounds and is a big relief to us.Only gardening is a bit of watering, pots drying out again. And here is last night's moon, taken through a window because I couldn't get a clear view from an open window and blowed if I was venturing out into a cold & dark garden for a photoPS, date's wrong, grrr.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens7 -
Amazing photo Farway!!!!!!!Your jalopy, could it be the fuel pump? Remember I had a car that started intermitently - or not. It's been on the blink for some time.Rocking helped but aparantly you give the fuel tank a good thumping if it won't start. Bit like the starter motor in the old days when you could reach it. You used and umbrella or walking stick to give it a whack and were up and running againLucky you having bright and such. Stuck my head out of the door again just now and that wind is bitter. Still gloomy too so I won't be repotting out there today.Been looking for classes indoors in the warm for the winter as one of my table tennis groups may fold and the dancing is done without heating so not good for my 'intermitent starting' back and leg. But there's nothing much on, not like the old days when there were lots of active craft groups and such done through the government. I've got lots of crafts at home but would like some socialising in the winter. How exciting Maj Jong or Scrabble may be to some it doesn't do it for me.

Amazing Buddleia flowers this late in the year - doesn't matter how much I deadhead mine they just seem to give up after the initial flush...but mine are just bog standard blow ins... The whole process has made me wonder about the validity of deadheading - the faster I do it the quicker the remaining flowers seem to go over...6

That's an epic moon pic, Farway
Mine literally pales into insignificance
Did you see your rainbow pic on another thread is 'Photo of the Week'?? Well done that man
Would an art class interest you, twopenny?? More for the company of like-minded people than learning art, as you appear to be pretty capable already, unless there's a medium (is that the right word??) you've never tried.

I'd do another art class at a pinch but the only one I've found so far is a bit, well, travel and experiment. I may try the local group now you've reminded me. Oh it doesn't seem to exist. And I've just thought that a local village has a better gardening group than mine here, though that seems to have improved. They're so bad at advertising since the pandemic and a lot of stuff has got cancelled since the pandemic.A lot seems to be dementia, mental illness etc. I'm not there yet
