May fortune follow you and many seeds stick to your clothing at Wisley tomorrow, Farway.
One of those Tramper vehicles should put you at a good height for the majority of plants, and you can always have the occasional bout of myopia if some need closer 'inspection!'
I'm keeping Rosemoor for proper autumn colour, unless Mrs Dusty fancies a ride out there before then. We're somewhat restricted while she's still recovering from the hamstring injury. We might go to the walled garden visited last week, but I'd like to see something new while the Gardeners' World 2 for 1 is still valid.
Those Honesty just seed themselves here. Occasionally, I throw some seeds about, but those in the hedgerow have probably vanished. We couldn't get the tractor in to cut the inside faces last year, thanks to the boggy state of the fields.I forgot to mention this morning, I took advantage of your kind reminder about T&M's seed sale and bought 2 packs of Tomato Divinity seed @ 99p.Thanks! They look like a good alternative to the Veranda Reds. Mrs Dusty has spent this afternoon processing 3.6kg of toms. If she sends me some photos, I'll pop them up tomorrow. We're just freezing the liquid results for cooking purposes.
I'll look out for the Aurora when I make a similar post-midnight trip to Farway, pp.No mountains in the way here, just security lights!
I must have 20 show pictures to get through, so as I've been rambling-on about toms, here's one of our First Prize entries:They're 'Sungold.'"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity7 -
Haha, I've just noticed the 'Exhibited by Mrs Dusty'
Well done on the 1st Prize.
The Aurora was a complete flop here last night - it was cloudy and apparently it didn't turn up until the early hours anyway. A clear night forecast for tonight so will look out for any alerts.

Woohoo for 1st place MrsD :clapping: Those toms do look tasty. Is she about back to rood health and healing nicely? Maybe her having them nearly pointing to all corners of the compass is wot dun it
My anti-social wosnames are kinda impressive but I can't claim any credit for them. I've forgot what they are even, I found the net of bulbs on the conservatory floor and just bunged em in pots. IIRR it was later than it said to plant them, but I didn't let it stop me. #Shawshank
Fingers crossed you'll get another good show of the aurora pp. I meant to ask Beloved Cousin if she'd seen them... I think she'd have said if she had. There's lovely weather coming according to Cissie - she wants to get the last bits of her garden done before Autumn. I said you'll have to dig out your summer clothes again, get a bit of sun on your skin. She said she was only sorry she didn't have a bikini or she'd be out in that. So I went round the charity shops while I was out this morning and found her one and posted it. I tell ya, if I get a picture back of her wearing it I'll wee myself laughing, honestly I will
Is today Wisley day then Farway? Take plenty of sandwich bags/sheets of kitchen roll
Lovely day here today, now the damp and murk have burned off. It was all very soggy when I got up this morning but it's away nowNice dry air and low humidity but no breeze. I really need to do more weeding, again. Maybe I should just leave them alone and see what they turn into. Oh and my hornet/wasp/whatevers are loving this warm blast - I might need to get the council in to get rid cos it's beyond the beyonds now
ETA if it's any use to anyone, Cissie was telling me that they've not got the barley in yet never mind most of the other crops. The fields are too wet still to get a tractor on, this good weather is literally too little too late. Something for anyone who likes a good store cupboard to bear in mind. This is not legal or medical advice etc.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -
Lucky those who have a chance of the aurora Poppy. We have had it down south but rare so not likely to go out to the moors on the offchance. Photos will doBluey I have several beaches within easy reach and a spell around the sea does the heart good and trying to take advantage of decent weather while we have it. BTW meant to ask before, did you last years Morries snapdragons come good again this year? To my surprise mine did and were lovely and robust.Wonder how Farway is getting on? It's going to be interesting to see what the 'net' result isGrrrrr to the lovely tomatoes. I have tons still sitting green as you like with no sign of ripening. No idea why there isn't one or two at least making the effort.Well I overdid it though not my fault so haven't been able to go anywhere. I did hands and knees gardening all yesterday, heck there's a lot to do. Things have grown suddenly and I have more rose and wisteria than I need. It's like triffids!Sun sort of out, not as nice as they said and it's a choice. Finish outdoor painting or go for a walk somewhere beautiful. I'll have to check the forcasts. But it's not cold or dark for which I'm truely thankful.Neighboours noisy building of new toilet continues. They;ve ruined the expensive fence. General opinion seems to be more money than sense.I had some home grown potatoes where I just bunged a sprouting supermarket one in. Amazing how much better they taste. I'm going to do the growing in a bag thing I think. Next spring or maybe even try for some Christmas ones. And the tomatoes, lady down the road has a Lidl 'greenhouse' in her drive and pots of toms. So many every year from just 3 pots so that's on the list too.

Ooh, can you imagine what capturing the aurora over the moors would be like, twopenny
Do you think you have a nest somewhere, YBE?? Shudders at the thought. We've had a few small wasps in the house over the last couple of days, plus a chewed up spider on the stairs...
It's turned into a beautiful afternoon here, with more to come (Cissie was right). Btw, that comment you made about the bikini made me laugh
I've been heron spotting - both quite far away so not very clear...
I like the reflections.
And a crab apple tree nearby, absolutely laden with fruit...

PP love the reflection in the water pics.Hope Farways Wisley trip bore fruit 😉 looking forward to the pics.
Well done on the prize winning Dusty/ Mrs Dusty. I like some of the dahlias but always sound fussy so I’ve never bothered.
Saturday started very foggy, but cleared by lunchtime, Sunday was like Christmas in work ,and left feeing shattered. Today went for a walk that without a specific end goal, turned into an epic long walk. The weather was glorious, blue sky and sun . I’ll see if I can post a pic.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.6 -

The Aurora was a complete flop here last night - it was cloudy and apparently it didn't turn up until the early hours anyway. A clear night forecast for tonight so will look out for any alerts.Ah, the certificate had to be anonymised! I'm still twerk tweaking some others.Altogether, Mrs D had 6 firsts, 6 seconds and a couple of “best in shows,” all of which adds-up to 3 cups
.....and more engraving at £13 a pop!
The majority of her wins weren't for items I've grown, but even where they were, like Bluey says, choice and presentation's key.
Also, you have to look out for the rules. One entry in that section looked way more interesting, but they were too large to qualify as 'cherry toms' and disqualified. I've a picture of the grower's face when he realised, but dare not post it!
I had a quick Aurora peer out the front door around 02.00, but the moon was powerful and so was the security light on the barn down the road!Harvesting has been going on apace here, Bluey. The wheat's in, but no idea about yields. Maize is still to come. Judging by what others say, we've had things easy, but I take the point about laying in winter stocks etc, so we have.I think it's still possible to mention SHTF, so long as we don't hint at what sort of 'S!'

But it's not cold or dark for which I'm truely thankful. It was lovely, clear, blue sky over this side today.Reluctantly, I took the 'outdoor painting' option and gave the new gates their first coat of 'very expensive stuff'. It's sunk in and dried, so now I can't see what I've done!
Ooh! Just spotted pp's heron pics. I can't compete with those! While I might find some apples, I'm not talking about my plums!
.
Speaking of ripe plums, hope Farway had a good time at Wisley, where, sad to say, he missed the dahlia extravaganza by about a week.Never mind, plenty else to see, I'm sure.
Did someone mention rude vegetables? The tomato was ours and came second. There was a late carrot, much like the one pictured, but better endowed.
Naturally, it won.

Yeay! Just been for a long walk along the Devon coast. Forgot my poles but I've survived it seems. Things are looking up. Sun came out but it was shady in the cliffs. Tea and shortbread on the highest pointI saw some unusual plants and some scabious growing which is good because there's a rare butterfly that likes them. Have to look up the yellow dandelion type one that I can't identify. And - one of my tomatoes has a yellow tinge so I may get one ripe onePoppy the moon is full and too bright to see anything, even stars. Fingers crossed for the future .Yes the weather has pepped up which is why we are out enjoying it while we can. The evening light was lovely and the bracken turning as well as leaves and looking lovely in the early evening. Here you are Dusty, it's in Devon. You may have walked here. I think it's an easy spot but then I've been a few timesThe view from our picnic spot

I've been meaning to visit the cliffs near Hunter's Inn. Walked here years ago. I believe the trek giving this view is quite challenging, if you start from the pub.
For us, Hartland's much quicker to reach. Maybe not so spectacular., though! We saw some large patches of scabious on the Tarka Trail last week. I meant to take a photo, but the best ones were beside two people yakking and I couldn't invade their space. Of course, after walking-on, we didn't see any more!"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity6 -
Walked from the parking spot at Woody Bay. It was tougher and longer than I remember but they've put a few benches in and cut the trees for view points.Unfortunately the hotel has been turned into apartments and all the cottages are holiday cottages now but you can't see any of it for lovely old twisted oaks. But there won't be many more days to do it so got to pack as much in as possibleMy treat for doing so much gardening yesterday.
