Lovely pic RAS, I feel like I know what they are but I don't, please do tell.A dull day so that picture has brightened it up as intendedMore germination times, the Chilean Glory Vines have germinated and are now on the window sill, hard to see how the tiny cress like little things will be over ten feet tall by end of summer [fingers crossed]And I have glimmer of a Tumbling Tom but too soon to say, getting worried about the sweet corn thoughI expect I'll tip them onto the garden in a week or two when I need the propagator space, where they will promptly burst into life in the wrong placeEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens1

Pleiones, Farway. Otherwise known as windowsill orchids. A very generous gift knowing how much they cost on-line.
Anyone with a good north-facing window whose house is kept cool, or with a cellar, could get them to flower. It's keeping them cool and out of the sun in summer that's the tricky bit. They don't like sun or temperatures above 25 degrees C or below freezing when growing.

Thanks for the photo. It did indeed cheer up the day - and I learned something new

Read but didn't post over the past few days due to hard work with planning application + 2 bonfires. Great conditions for the latter, so cleared everything at one end of the property with minimal smoke, which is how I like to do it. The other end will have to wait for a change in the wind, but it should all go in one afternoon.Postmen have been in shorts for over a week now, the woodpecker has been heard every day and yesterday an ice cream van was calling in the distance, so it's definitely spring.4

Another dull day outside, brightened by the ornamental cherry now being in full blossom, if sun peeks out I'll try for a photo, standard cherry blossom against blue sky shotAll my tomato seeds have germinated, just poking up now, I'll move to window sill later on today,Spotted on FB,seems the multi coloured tomato seed scam is going round, along with blue strawberries & black rose seeds. Easy to smile but such a shame for newbies who fall for it, it's not like being harmlessly sent for a tin of tartan paint & a Long Wayt [sic] this one costs moneyI've sown some mixed colours beetroot [not from internet & Photoshop
] over my no show ones, if they all come up there'll still be space
I checked my sweetcorn, only been two weeks now, seems longer with the other items germinating quickly but it's not rotted so I'm hanging on a bitNo postie in shorts here yet, but birds are gathering nesting material from next doors dead hanging basketsEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens2 -
Was warm and mild today even bright. Just perfect for enjoying. I saw a cherry in the park on my walk and was looking for the blue sky shotI'd have liked to sit with my book after a busy week but one neighbour powerwashing his car and soaking my plants, the other potters between shed and garage rattling and creeping. So work on the bird table, turf cut out for box hedge and box balls, old soil and unwanted plants shifted to badger run, Ceanothus tied into fence to hide the neighrous shed (maybe neighbour if I'm lucky) and all plants to plant sorted. I'm trying to be organised. That should work until tomorrowOh and I cheated this year and bought some nice looking Purple Sprouting in a tray. 6 for £2. I'll pot them up as my current crop is just starting to produce so no room yet. I'll have to bring on some spares for the slugs too.

Light enough this morning to open the curtains at 05.15, which was nice (seems a shame that we will lose an hour of morning next week, but I understand that not everyone likes to be up early!)

I'm happy about losing that hour of early morning light, as it's my job to let the hens out!Spent much of yesterday in gentler activity moving primroses from the front garden, which is to be redeveloped, to the stream side. Not a very good time to do it, but until I'd removed much of the ivy and cleared the banks there was nowhere safe to put them and it gets so dry later. I expect they'll pull through.Off on my long shop this morning....well most of the day in fact, but the larder is empty and it's only 1 day in 10 for the big one.1

Dull morning again, my "long shop" is being delivered by Iceland this morningAll my tomatoes have been moved to the window sill now, it is very noticeable how much better the germination is from my own saved 2020 seeds, despite my very slapdash method of merely smearing seed + pulp from the donor tom onto kitchen paper & letting it air dryI keep checking on my roses from seeds experiment, no further signs of life yet. I console myself that they have not rotted anywayFig cuttings in water, only been a couple of days so no roots of course, but the buds are greening so water is being taken up I assumeI saw the week's weather this morning, snow for some later in week, including Dartmoor area, what normally happens is the cherry blossom opposite just reaches peak flowering when a hurricane arrives to clear itEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens1

Farway - the buds on my quinces are starting to open, so we're definitely due a gale shortly!1
