Cancelling Legal Aid

I pay monthly Legal Aid contributions.
My solocitor ignored my request to cancel Legal Aid.
If i cancel my monthly contributions, would that work. If so would it be discharged or revoked.
Thanks

How did you request to cancel? In writing?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • That simple pinkshoes? No vosts to pay for work done?
I hired her and applied for legal aid for a reason. We won, but she messed the case up, so he refuses costs.
Next thing i know shes applying for more legal aid, to do more work. I didnt want it, as my monthly contributions are higher than any further fees will be.

If you sack your solicitor, they can't do any more work for you. You still have to pay for work already completed but can make a complaint if you're not happy with how your solicitor conducted your case.
  • Pay for work when i had legal aid. Bill will be use. Last week she spent 2 hours on the phone reading out a report to me id already read. Clearly an attempt to increase the bill

Yes, but its paid indirectly, your solicitor bills the legal aid agency and the legal aid agency recovers it from you.
  • Only if you get money or property from it. Otherwise it would be pointless.

This was OPs other post, where it contains more information:

I got legal aid to join a class action out of time and won. But the judge said the solicitor was all over the place, so denied costs.
So i owe legal aid money. But she would not tell me how much. So now im in class action, she starts applying for MORE legal aid againt my wishes. The contributions are killing me, and the class action is stayed, so im paying for nothing. Lagal aid agree to let her continue, even though i didnt want it. The class action has legal aid, i dont want my own.
So i go with it, and then find im being reassesed for legal aid i didnt want, and being force to jump through hoops.
My question is, can i say enoughs enough, stuff your legal aid, or will they then say your no longer covered so have to pay all the legal aid back now, rather than wait for my compensation.
    Stressed out.

Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.

If you drip feed information, nobody is going to be able to help you.

If you would like help, you need to clearly explain what has happened and what your case  is all about.

Just tell the legal aid agency you want them to discharge the legal aid certificate.

Have you spoken to the lawyers conducting the class action? They may be able to then go on th record for you and request your file from the old solicitor.
If you have not made a request in writing to the solicitor to close the file and cancel your certificate then do that. Keep a copy and proof of posting (or request a read receipt if you e-mail it)
Then raise a complaint using the firm's complaints process.

Just cancelling your direct debit may result in your certificate being revoked but you would still owe any payments due until it is revoked, and I would expect that there is a process of them writing to you etc so it won't be immediate, and it may may it harder for you to get assistance again if you need it when the case ceases to be stayed.
