BEING CHARGED FOR PHONE CALLS THAT WASNT US

We have an account with virgin media and have had recent charges added on my bill for £500 of call charges which has come from our landline but we wasn’t even aware we had a landline nor do we own a house phone! We just have our mobiles. I have been continually trying to get through to a manager and keep speaking to person to person and am getting no help whatsoever. I keep either being cut off when on hold or put through to someone else then go over the same things continually. We had an engineer out who confirmed it isn’t cross wires so we are going to have to pay this bill. I don’t know what to do I’m at my wits end and don’t even have a spare 500 to pay this and shouldn’t have to pay it when it isn’t us! They confirmed this landline number was linked to a another account but conveniently was cut off there account in February which I don’t believe. I really don’t know what else to do and don’t want this bill over my head when it wasn’t even us making all these calls!!! On top of that our wifi and tele keeps being cut off every single day due to these charges and it being suspicious activity so I have to phone every single day to get it put back on. I will NEVER be using virgin again. What appalling service and scamming.

Presumably you received an itemised bill? Any hint from recognising the numbers? Presumably they say the number that was used to call, you could try calling it, long shot but if a phone rings in your house....
Burglar alarm or other device wired into the phone line? If showing 100 call to a burglar alarm center that would be a clue...
If you really think a glitch has just charged you for calls that are nothing to do with you then follow the complaint procedure, escalate and eventually to the ombudsman. If they don't agree then small claims court.
