eBay - no feedback

A few years ago, there was a period of star rating inflation on ebay. These days, the star ratings are as follows:
- ***** Good
- **** Not very good
- *** (or less) Terrible
This new rating is now so baked into ebay that if you give a professional seller anything less than a 5 star rating, they will be very unhappy as it damages their reputation. It's daft, but unless a seller does anything wrong, I will give them 5 stars.
* terrible (goods did not arrive)
** did not meet expectations (not as described, shoddy quality, late delivery, too much spam, emails begging for 5* feedback etc.)
*** met expectations (goods arrived within expected time scale, as described, decent quality, not spammed etc.)
**** above expectations (goods better than described, of superior quality, superior value for money etc.)
***** goods personally delivered by Kaley Cuoco
The internet has manufactured this faux system whereby everybody expects 5 stars (because they are too precious to handle honest feedback). I see it during appraisals were delicate little snowflakes get upset because they get 3 out of 5 (which means they have done a good job and met expectations). If everybody gets 5 stars then how do we highlight those companies that genuinely do go above the call of duty and deliver excellent service.
So I will not waste my time on faux feedback that exists to massage the ego of delicate little princesses. If they want to build a fairy tale land of faux etiquette and faux courtesy around it then that is their problem.I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!1 -

I disagree and have little interest in how half-baked ebays ideas about its star system are.
Its nothing to do with snowflakes though, I am mitigating my hobby but to others its their livelihood and a minority making a stand about star ratings to the majority means its a poor seller and your gripe with eBay impacts honest/good sellers.0 -
As a buyer I leave feedback as soon as the item arrives. I've even had a jigsaw box wrapped in thick wallpaper, so funny & why not, as long as it's well wrapped. Though I'm going to avoid a seller who does not use Royal Mail, I've had a problem wI don't care if the seller leaves me any or not TBH.
Sadly, I recently bought 7 jigsaws, all different sellers, (& I've bought several before, no problem), but the one I've just completed has a piece missing, no mention of that by the seller! Another had so much pet hair mixed in it was very unpleasant, I went through it several times & had a LARGE furball by the end. Another had mould in the box the jigsaw smelt stale.
So, in future, I won't be so quick or so generous with my review & star ratings. Missing bits, pet hair & mould/smell will get no review/score or low score & honest comments.
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0
