If you have a doctors letter confirming you are not fit to fly you may be able to claim.
If travelling to a county not currently on the exempt list from essential travel you should check if your policy covers FCO advice.
Insurance claims will be less the policy excess.2 -

Good afternoon
I am really hopeful that someone may be able to help me.
In September I booked flights with Easyjet (Outbound) and Turkish Airlines via lastminute.com (Return) for myself and my two children to visit my father in Turkey. At the time of booking Turkey was an acceptable destination with no requirement for quarantine, added to which the Insurance I held with my bank covered me in the travel advice changed.
This did indeed change in October 2020, and I took the decision that the trip was no longer viable and called Easyjet to cancel my outbound flight. I was informed that the flights I had booked were non-refundable and that I would only be entitled to the return of the air passenger duty of £13.00 - I understood this and accepted it. However, the return flight has proved rather more problematic.
On first contact lastminute.com they provided me with a cancellation quote of £45 (Total cost was around £450). Again I understood this and accepted that I would need to seek reimbursement via insurance. However, I explained that I would contact them in a day or two confirming my wish to cancel, this I did and and received an email on 17 October 2020 stating that assessing the refund will take up to two months, but I am still yet to hear a thing.
The most frustrating aspect to it all is that you cannot contact lastminute.com in anyway - I don't expect a refund, just confirmation that I can't have one, but nothing.
In desperation I am now considering submitting an online money claim (small claims) to at least get a response, has anyone ever tried taking similar action?

Ukescalations@lastminute.com may get a response.
There have been previous discussions about taking them to court, but it seems extremely difficult. They are Swiss-based, without a UK address to serve documents, which appears to rule out small claims.0 -
If you paid a departure tax as part of the ticket, you can claim back that portion as you didn't depart but its not likely to be much.

I had a Holiday to Turkey booked with BA in October which I was able to cancel and receive a full refund when the FCO advice changed.0
