Booked a short break to Amsterdam 2nd Oct 2 days with lastmin.com in Sept 2020, however since the Covid -19 second wave has increase the Government has increased the strict travel requirements and we tried to cancel 2 weeks before going. Lm.com just said you cannot cancel and you are not covered for a refund. Cost of holiday was £450 and want a refund if not a need date in the new year, LM.com dont answer calls, have no complaints procedure and are not interested- Understand it was a risk at this time but to get nothing back is unreasonable on there behalf-
What are my options- happy to go to small claims court if need be as i understand people have/ you cannot contact LM.com or reason with them.

You are not entitled to a refund if you booked non refundable /changeable
  • So it a learning curve and wasting my time chasing anything back?
  • Pretty much yes. If they'd cancelled you could get it back. Absolutely nothing if you cancel
  • I didn't cancel just didn't go, i tried to canel due to the increase in Covid 19 from traveling to Amsterdam and back. They refused to let me cancel said i wasn't covered to do that.
  • This is the Governments doing and think now we should have just gone !!

No it's trying to save lives from a virrulant virus not either governments fault you booked and changed you mind.
If you book a non refundable holiday or hotel you get it at a reduced price but take the chance that if you can't go for any reason you will loose the money/holiday.
If you had travel insurance you couldn't claim if it's you who cancels unless for a reason that's covered.
It's a risk right now to book holidays at home or abroad. If you are taken ill or if this or another country changes it's travel restrictions. You gambled on the non refundable booking and the state of play of nations and didn't win.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on

The only normal people you know are the ones you don’t know very well

  • Lastminute.com have just taken the remaining balance from a holiday I booked in 2019, when I called to ask about my options regarding a refund as its a holiday to a country that has the 2 week quarantine on return, they said I would get a cancellation quote, it's just arrived and it's £350, the holiday cost £820!!! My flight is with Ryanair so they say I have to deal with them myself, even tho I booked everything through them and they couldn't tell me if my transfer was refundable. Is this right because I'm wondering if I can do a cancellation through the bank.

If the flights and hotel are still open, you have no right to a refund and to get anything back at all is better than nothing.
If you choose not to go, it's your loss to bear - a bank chargeback will fail as the hotel and flights are there to use, you're choosing not to go.

The 2 week quarantine is imposed by the Government, while it's rubbish it's not LM's fault or that of the flight / hotel provider.
  • I just need some instances of how I would be in titled to a refund, ie myself or a family member get covid, if there is a travel ban. A 4 night break I booked pre covid now is a choice to loose 2 weeks income or lose over half my fee, doesn't seem right.

If the hotel is closed and/or the plane is not flying and they cancel you get a refund.
anything else is you cancelling and you get no refund.
