Small driveway ideas

Hi,im in the process of purchasing this home. As you can see it has a double garage but the driveway is too short to fit more than one full size car onto it. My idea was to bring the wall where the garage doors are back a metre. Therefore create a slightly larger driveway, slightly smaller garage.
(we are looking longer term to convert the garage into another room).
my question is.. is this a possibility and what kind of costs do you think I’d be
looking at based on what you can see?
thank you

Sounds sensible!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

And easy-peasy. You already have a lintel going across these doorways, and that's what's supporting the roof along the front.
I presume you'd want to keep the roofline as it is, so you'll end up with a partial car port - a third of your car will be dry :-)
The only partial complexity would be if you wanted to remove that central pillar? In which case a more substantial lintel would almost certainly be required to span the total width. If you didn't, then it's effectively just a case of moving these doors backwards...

Yes a miniature carport is what I was thinking to then create more space. Brilliant thank you for your help and fills me with confidence it’s not as complex as what I originally thought. 👍0

I walked past a house a few days back where someone had removed the garage door, and built a wall a few feet back. It looked really strange.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
My plan was to put a door and window in with spot lighting in the roof of the miniature carport.

You can't actually fit one car on it

With a view to moving it back slightly that would be a bonus for both cars and a room.As it stands having a room with a window in the current position passers by would be right by the window. I have a bedroom with path outside and it's very disconcerting to see people so close suddenly. Working on that one
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on
The only normal people you know are the ones you don’t know very well

You can fit a car on it on the right side my sportsge fits on it it’s just his car parked but left side would fit a fiat 500.. luckily its at the end of a small cul-de-sac so people passing by is minimal.0

Have you considered purchasing something that is actually what you want? With love, POSR

Yes however in the same area is £60k more this is £210 and others in same area for school catchment is £270 so well over our budget. . This house is what we want (4 beds, south facing garden, quiet cul-de-sac) and weve bought hoping we can create a larger driveway and convert the remainder of the garage into another room.Have you considered purchasing something that is actually what you want?
I'm not sure how you would know what i want when we dont know each other. I assume your just another sarcastic keyboard warrior instead of being helpful or not commenting at all
