Barclaycard : My experience as a new customer. TLDR they are the most incompetent!

I like to try new banks to see how they compare, so having reached the end of my HSBC credit card's signup period for avios, decided to try the Barclarycard Rewards card.
Signup online went ok, card eventually arrived a bit over about a week later.
Only offered a stingy £3500 limit which is a bit low given my income (other cards are £14k, £5k with about £1.5k/mth spend going through them) but ultimately enough for its purpose (daily spend for merchants not accepting amex).
Then the disaster struck. The online login simply does not work. On any browser. On any computer!
Every login immediately comes back with
Every login immediately comes back with
"Sorry, there's been a problem with our system.
We're currently unable to log you in.
Please try again later."

This has been occurring for the last 2 weeks.
Looking at the website in debug mode I see one of their pages https://as2r-cla-bcc1-bcol.barclaycard.co.uk/ecom/as2/api/login/verificationEligibleMethods returning a 500 Internal Server Error page.
So I phoned customer support - reset all my credentials and no help. I begged to raise a ticket which the CSR didn't want to as he knew it was futile. "The web team always take 30 days to respond and when they do they just ask for more information" which was not encouraging. There is no ability for me to provide any screenshots or any supporting documentation.
And so I wait. I'll update on when they get back to me.
I realise this is a bit ranty but I feel it's useful to evaluate banks on their customer experiences. A good bank will be able to adapt to resolve problems whereas a bad bank will refuse to see a problem in the first place.

Download the Barclays app, you should be able to do whatever you need from that. Personally, I haven't used online banking for years with my Barclays accounts, can't even remember my login details.
EDIT: Just thought, you will probably need a pinsentry card reader.I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.0 -
Have you tried the Barclaycard app to see if that works? Also your £3.5k limit might seem low to you despite your income, your debt to income ratio might be high hence the lower limit than you expected. Also due to current financial climate most lenders are being a bit more cautious with there lending.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0

Website has been working problem free for me on Chrome, Firefox (Windows, Linux and OSX) and Safari.
Might want to look at any extensions you have installed, especially privacy ones.0 -

And I forgot to mention the useless emails telling me to do things I've already done!I've just got a new one about "remember to activate your card" despite doing that 2 weeks back!I got 3 identical emails "Confirmation – your application was successful" over 3 different days! (but not subsequent days, oh no that would be too easy!)Honestly!

The only issue I have is with the app. The thumb print does not work and keeps asking me the enter my 5 figure code.0

The £3.5k credit limit may (?) have something to do with you being a new customer. That's the ceiling they gave me at the getgo, despite higher limits elsewhere.2

I don’t have any issues with the Barclaycard site - have you tried clearing all of your previous attempts/cookies? I had to do this with M&S0

Everything works for me on my Barclaycard - and they've responded to all of my secure messages in recent months very quickly, and have also helped me complete a product swap from Forward to Rewards. As for your 'stingy' limit - you're a new customer - times are tough in the financial world right now - if that's not good enough for you - close it down and take your business elsewhere. And yes, you do sound a bit ranty. There should be a degree of give and take in the current circumstances, it seems like you're only interested in the take.2

After 10 years of online access working properly, I had exactly the same login error for 5 weeks up the end of August '21.
The issue was unresolved and I gave up and closed my account.0
