Morning all,
Ds2 is home for two weeks after a positive covid test in his year group, so its back to homeschooling with him.
In the way of small things
* leftovers for meals today - love to cook once and eat twice!
* check banking/keep cashbook up to date
* tidy fridge and make sure nothing goes to waste
* ordered a new laptop and was able to go through dh's works perks site to get some cashback
* rm survey item posted
* correctly delivered survey recorded
* general tidying/pottering in the house as its a grim day out there.
* will walk & talk with my parents using facetime - exercise and catching up with them a win-win
Take care all.

@determined_new_ms wish I could make substantial payments and get it gone. Might have a fair amount coming in but only just got to the stage I haven't got £3-4k more than I earn going out each month. It's not great, a lot going out and very little surplus.4

@alt80 - I think you're being a tad hard and harsh on yourself - you didn't get into this situation overnight but you will get through it and learn much more about yourself and your family during this time, and yes some days/weeks are harder than others but just think how satisfying it will be to know that you sorted it!!
Also, how would you advise a friend if they came to you with a similar issue?
Weather forecast is grim this weekend (I live in Sheffield so not too far from you), so I hope that you can do something that will enable you to spend some quality time with your wife and son and also something that makes you smile.Goodreads 2025 Challenge :16/75

@1LuckyLady - It's a worry isn't it - I am a bit baffled to be honest by some of the guidelines as in
It's ok for kids to be back at school and mixng with 1100/1200 other pupils and staff (in various bubbles) but then when they come home they aren't allowed to socialise with the same kids (their friends) or members of their extended family. So in effect they could be carriers bringing home any bug/illness spreading it at home where some parents have to go to work and they spread it to their contacts and so on and so on.
Must also be strange having to send one to school and keep one at home.
Stay safe and most importantly stay sane!Goodreads 2025 Challenge :16/75

@ziggy2407 The stay sane comment had me chuckling! Ds2 and I did a mexican standoff this afternoon!! Thank goodness tomorrow is the weekend!! (only 6 more schooling days before he's back!... not that I'm counting..
)
It is crazy as you say and hard to have one in school and one home. Ds1 is in GCSE yrs now though so I'm really hoping that he manages to spend as much time in school as possible - also he really needs the distance from his bro!!Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

@ziggy2407 thanks. It is something that's built over years - I've always had things on finance that it'd probably be wiser not to. I'm leveraged in business which isn't an issue but I think it has contributed to me thinking 'oh it's only £xxk' in my personal life. Not going to lie I based who I am on what I've got - not the best trait to have I know.
Will have think about what I would advise a friend who came to me with a similar problem, thanks might help me to take the 'I' out of it a bit.5 -
This week:
1. Stick with the budget. So far so good. 🙂
2. Not spend my free time looking at cars / property rather than doing something with my family. Left the office early and picked son up from school with wife today. Spent the afternoon / evening doing family stuff - home workout, dinner prepared and ate together, dog walk, little bit of tv and bedtime story for son.3. Check yolt app everyday. Check.
4. 4 day working week for me. Check.5. 3x workouts, 1x 5km. 2x workouts, no 5km yet got the weekend for that!6 -
b'day weekend, so will be an expensive weekend, and then baked beans on toast for the rest of the month, but then often does your youngest turn 28 :-)
That said all is planned and organised for the most fun for the least extras. Just need to get some some cards today.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

Morning
ditty happy birthday to your eldest! My eldest also turned 28 last month - hard to believe!
Today will be devoted to decorating, dog walking and sewing
I watched a tutorial on doing a princess seam, which I need to do for the dress I'm making
so far I have copied the pattern on to tracing paper (allows me to sell the uncut pattern if I decide it's not for me or if have so many I get bored of it!), graded between sizes where needed and shorted the bodice by a massive 2.5" and trued off the edges
I will also:
* all meals from stores
* quick 15 min TOMM tidy up
* list 3 things
* write out madam's packed lunch meal plan for next week - 10 mins at the weekend makes life so much simpler during the week and makes sure nothing goes to waste
* watch a free film and knit tonight. Oh is going out with friends
* sent text to mil to see if she can cover any childcare over next 2 months & booked madam in to ASC for next week as mil is away
Ok that's me

Morning all
Second day of really heavy rain here
But I managed to get the dog out for a quick walk during a brief lull. I don't mind a walk in the rain, but the dog definitely does, And OH wasn't keen either
Not done much, and little motivation - I have sewn a button on OH's trousers, listed a small item on ebay and had a home grown pear for breakfast fruit, and that is about it. We have been invited to lunch by DS and his GF later, slightly hesitant, but who knows if a lockdown will be imposed at any point and we won't see family for ages again?
No plans for any spending at least!4
