Really bad day yesterday anger out of control didn’t go home from
office until after midnight. Avoiding family not great but nothing said I regret so that’s a win. Didn’t check finances yesterday but have this morning wife not spent anything and I hadn’t spent anything.
Got the counselling this morning not convinced it’s helping tbh.Would ppl here count res mortgage and btls / comm property as debt? I don’t personally all got to live somewhere and unless very fortunate that’s either a mortgage or paying someone else’s.5 -
Morning
I have had quite the eventful morning, woke up late, realised after 10 minutes with a coffee madam had an eye appt at the hospital. Mad scramble to get ready and leave in time. Traffic was abysmal so the appt was cancelled because of the lateness. A hour round trip for noting! Fingers crossed they get her another appt in the next week
so now back to my day.
* TOMM
* mince out of freezer for dinner
* make dgd2 a jumper dress out of a jumper I picked up fron cs
* chilli, been & chocolate soup for lunch
* think I'm going to have to stew & freeze some more apples - my freezers are bursting!
* sitting with my light lamp for 15 mins - I have to build it up 15 mins increase a week until it's 1hr a day
* call my payroll as I realise I was under paid a couple of months ago double checked and it is right
* list 3 things
* take dog for a walk
* get oh to look in to the warm homes grant. I've looked in to it and it seems like a good idea!
* make green tomato cake
I picked all the toms from my plants yesterday. Majority of green ones will go in the cake and the rest are in a brown bag with a banana
I should do some decorating - only have a bit more left of sanding in the hall and then it'll be time to paint. But somehow I don't think I will today, I feel like taking it easy and just doing things that are pleasurable
Hope you all have a good dayDF as at 30/12/16

Or it's living in a paid-off house.alt80 said:Would ppl here count res mortgage and btls / comm property as debt? I don’t personally all got to live somewhere and unless very fortunate that’s either a mortgage or paying someone else’s.
Yes mortgage debt is definitely debt. Appreciate millions of us have them and usually have to have them if buying a house but it still represents a liability on your balance sheet.7 -
I always counted my mortgage in my debt and it was the one I was determined to pay off first - thankfully I managed to achieve that last year 😉alt80 said:Would ppl here count res mortgage and btls / comm property as debt? My aim of buying no groceries this week is still on track 🙌 having vegan sushi and inari for dinner tonight - got to make extra though as dd wants some! 😂
No chance of using the line to dry stuff here this week so td has been used a lot - new grandbaby in the house so it's been on pretty much constantly 🙈
Today I'll be dehydrating hg tomatoes and sage ready for winter - drying my own herbs and veg saves a fortune in the winter months 😊 We've also done a veg swap with a work colleague so he's got some of my runner beans and I'm getting some butternut squash 🙌8 -
Hi I'm still getting up at 5 everyday to do my journal and just sort of reflect/write/clear my head before the day and I feel much better for it, but this morning I had a smashing headache when I woke up.
SO today a bit of laundry, eat from stores and get a tooth fixed and work from home. Not a bad day.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

@alt80 I hope you are ok. Your post was worrying - don't beat yourself up. Hope the counselling helps. As for your mortgage, well, I suppose it is debt strictly speaking, but not in the same category as loans and credit card debt. I think Martin Lewis once referred to mortgages as 'good debt'. As you say, you have to live somewhere, and you have to pay for it. As for what you owe on your BTL / commercial property, that is in your business accounts isn't it, rather than private debt. It sounds as though lumping it all together is a bit overwhelming. Maybe to think about your business, your mortgage and your consumer debt as separate entities might be helpful for now? Does that make sense?I have spent all morning sorting out old HMRC stuff, and now have 2 large sackfuls of shredded paper which I hope the recycling collection will take tomorrow morning! I have put the required 6 years worth of records in tidy files and stashed them away in a stack of vintage suitcases in the corner of the spare bedroom, which might seem a strange place, but the suitcases were there, and unused, and it seemed a good use for them, seeing as OH won't let me sell them! I removed all this carp from a Chinese camphorwood chest in the dining room, which is a much more suitable place to store out of season clothes than a lot of old tax files (even though it is in the dining room
I found an old album full of photos from the 1920s and 30s which I think came from my Dad's family in amongst it all. I shall look through those later, and see if there is anyone I recognise - probably not, as a) my Dad, and therefore I as a child, didn't have much to do with his extended family and b) I wasn't alive when the photos were taken. Actually, my Dad wasn't born till 1927, so even if he had still been around, he might not have known who the people were either! However, it will be interesting.OH helped by doing some of the cleaning while I dealt with the paperwork. I still need to hoover the sitting room though.I have a load of washing out on the lineAnd have put away the Iceland shopping which came this morning. That required application of advanced level freezer tetris (@determined_new_ms I feel your pain!)I have a button to sew onto OH's trousers - I hate sewing, but can sew on a button in front of the TV, so have put it where I can see it, so I don't forget to do it.Better get this hoovering done, and then I think I will deserve another coffee!7 -
Still struggling with mindset. Almost drove into the back of another car today because I couldn’t keep my concentration on the road. The anger isn’t as bad as yesterday at least but I’m losing it. I go to bed thinking about the figures, work throughout the day and into the evening hardly able to concentrate on anything but the figures or worrying about what Boris is going to do tomorrow. Need to get this sorted and get to the next level. Wife doesn’t get why I want to buy a 7 figure home, tells me there’s more to life than my business and money half my fault sheltering her from life for years. No I’m not ok.
Did check the yolt app, wife hadn’t spent any money either. Should feel good about that steps towards dealing with it but just feel a failure - can’t spend, loser. Got a lot of stuff on finance, loser. Leveraged on property, loser.3 -
@alt80 I hope your counselling is helping you address your all or nothing thinking. It isn't a helpful thought process and will increase your negative feelings while you are going through stresses. You're in an enviable financial position so if you can address your thought process you should be able to get to a place where you are making substantial debt repayments in the background and while ambling along having a good standard of life.DF as at 30/12/16

Morning
been up for forever! Not a productive time though as keeping quiet for the others in the house! Today madam gets picked up by dd after school. So from 9am when I drop her off we have no childcare responsibilities until Sunday when I pick her up
Weather is forecast to be abysmal so I'm hoping we'll crack on with the hallway
Today:
* hang up washing
* dd & dgd2 are coming round about lunchtime. We'll have baguettes for lunch. Will get some stewed apples out of the freezer for dgd2 to have for a dessert
* dig out some things to give dd that are here
* trace a pattern on to some tracing paper to make alterations on & preserve the original as I will need to adjust due to being petite
* pay cc statement in full
* remind oh he owes me some money
* steaks out of the freezer for tea
* carry on knitting sock
* list 3 things - anyone want to have an ebay challenge with me in October? Need some motivation to actually do it!DF as at 30/12/16
