Help with final virgin media bill?

My virgin media tv broadband package was coming up to 12 months so 11 months before I gave my notice so the 12th payment would be the last, I called cancelled like you do and was told it would be processed and no outstanding payments as the last payment would come out in a few days after my notice which was fine and then yesterday I recieve a bill for a whopping £139 when I normally pay £89 on a deal.
I called and got through to Somebody who barely speaks good English so found it hard to understand but basically because they’re billing system works to certain dates and my bill was generated after my cut off I owe about £10 for a few days of the 30 days notice which I’m happy to pay however here’s the stickler, they say I need to pay £139 and then after 45 days they’ll send me a cheque for £125 back!!!
I said your having a laugh and why can’t they provide an updated bill for what I owe but she started to not understand my English and when I asked to speak to a supervisor there was nobody available and they said somone would ring me back, they didn’t!
where do I stand on this as I’m happy to pay the £10for a few days use if I owe it but I’m not happy paying another £125 only to wait nearly two months to recieve my own money back!!!

Yes, it tells you this on the Virgin website:Because of the way the billing system works you pay a full month in advance, and if you cancel partway through a month you still pay that month in full upfront and get a pro-rata return in due course. No different to any other service.

Wow I’ve never seen that be honest but for the sake of £10 owed I have to pay £139 then wait 45 days plus to get £120 odd back is nuts, I think I’ll wait until the next statement would be due then hopefully they can correct it and I’ll pay what’s outstanding that I actually owe.
just worried I’ll end up with a late payment on my credit file but if virgin media are anything like virgin hols I’m still waiting on a refund from April on cancelled flights to get my money back so they’re not having anymore!!0 -

I’ll wait and see if they redo a bill after the payment date as they can’t seem to change what I owe now £10 without adding another £129 on so hopefully the next bill date is 2 days after.
they're not getting that sort of money from me for the sake of £10, I’ve read loads of messages online of people having to chase what they’re owed too and not receiving cheques!
