Is this suggesting that I D/L all messages to the global in-box and then set filters to put them back into the specific account's in-box?
    Sounds a bit convoluted. 😁
  • Why don't you try Unified Folders as described in @ianto11 last post

Thanks both, but, isn't that going to put everything into one 'unified' folder? (which I don't really want to do)

It would certainly work - it's what I do, although for a different purpose.
All off my mail comes into the 'Local folders' inbox. I have subfolders below that such as 'Banking', 'Shopping', 'Friends' etc. I have message filters that put each Email into the correct folder.

You could do the same, just set the filters to work on the incoming account name and that would put the Emails from each account into its own folder. Wouldn't be that much work to set it up, and you only need to do it once.

Hmmm - progress I suppose. Old TB worked 'as is' .... well, as was, and put everything into the right place without and hassle but not we have to move them into the Local Folder, then back into the right place - bizarre.
It's Sunday ... will mull it over a while.  😊
  • Well, that's not really true, Old TB didn't work 'as is' ... you needed an additional add-on written by someone else to make it do what you wanted.

Sorry, I'm back - this is getting more complicated
Only one of my five accounts has a 'sent' folder - they all had one on the previous PC. I also had some sub-folders which are no longer there.
I uninstalled TB78 - then went through and deleted any TB folders remaining and also used CCleaner to check registry for TB stuff and removed it. Then rebooted PC
Tried to install 68 (that's what the old PC has) but is said a newer version was already installed but would I like to try another profile. I clicked YES, but nothing happened.
So, went through the whole uninstall regime again, then installed 78 which loaded up all my accounts despite me not loading my profile from anywhere. But all the loaded accounts are still 'not correct' as before.
How is TB finding all the 'wrong' settings despite me uninstalling/removing all my details?
EDIT - just sent a message from one of the gmail accounts and it said "Your message has been sent and saved, but there was an error while running message filters on it."

Why make life so complicated for yourself!

You should have followed the official tried and tested method to move Thunderbird from one PC to another PC.

Funny you should say that, but that's the *exact* website that I followed - I even printed it out and followed it to the letter it's just that for some strange reason, it won't D/L all the emails in one click, but folks have advised me how to work round that one ...
BUT, the fact that it hasn't carried over my sent mails from three of the accounts set me doing other 'complicated' stuff to uninstall/reinstall, but still no luck.
