Furniture Ombudsman Experience

I wasn't sure if this was the right section to post but it's an "in your home" question.
I have had to log a complaint with a big carpet and company and I am not happy with the response. My next step would be the Furniture Ombudsman I am advised.
Does anyone have any experience of using them. Is it worth it?
I have a new carpet which looks old and worn after just 3 months. They have assessed it and despite both their staff and the manufacturer rep saying it wasn't acceptable the written report states is to be expected... They have suggested using a mat to cover it up!
Obviously we don't want to have to fork out to replace them again after such a short space of time.... Especially when the issue was pointed out so soon after fitting.
Any experience with them appreciated before I go down this route or any alternative routes I can take.

They are legit. I've been advised by someone in the carpet industry to go via them. Just unsure whether people have found it beneficial (successful or not) or their experiences.Browntoa said:Trading standards seem to say it's ok .
