Ryan Air - Government Advice is Essential Travel Only...

Hi there the title says it all. We have a flight coming up on Saturday for Berlin as we were going to be there for the marathon (now cancelled). Ryan Air are charging £180 to move £150 flights. Government advice is essential travel only so why arent the changes zero? We arent going to go so will lose the flights, but how can Ryan Air still fly given the advice? PS I realise that this may have been covered elsewhere but wondered if advice or help has changed in the last few days? Thanks Martin

There are no restrictions on entering Germany - it's way down the hit list and exempted from quarantine on return. FCO exempted !!!mcopland said:Hi there the title says it all. How can they still fly, you ask?
What about people who are travelling for work, EU nationals returning home, going to see ill family members etc? Should they be stranded?
Nothing has changed; if the flight runs you aren't entitled to a refund as it's your choice not to fly. Advice is just that; advice - Ryanair are a business not a charity, and as such can't be expected to move everyone to new flights free-of-charge.
Also, I may be wrong but I'm not aware of any blanket advice against travel in place at the moment.1 -
not for Germany, it is on the exempt listmcopland said:Government advice is essential travel only

To be fair I don't think you're conversing with Alan Whicker (were he still to be alive) here.1 -

Hi - This may already be covered bu we are supposed to be going to Spain. Government says essential travel only. A holiday is not essential travel but Ryanair will not refund if we do not fly. I dont get it. Its not essential, we cant fly, refund us?
Do i claim off the goverment??0 -
