Money moved without permission

Options
Hi.  My Bank has moved a large sum of money from a joint bank account to one of my personal accounts then several months later moved a much smaller amount back to the joint account, all without permission.  They strongly suggest that I did it but I 100% did not and having now logged in online (normally just use my phone app for access) I can see that the joint account details aren't even available to me.  I don't even have the details written down...it is an account that mum opened for her own reasons and I have never used it and my mum has not touched it for almost a year.  My poor mum nearly had a heart attack when she saw that the money was gone.  Where do we stand with this?  What should we be doing?
Any advice very much appreciated, thank you.

It is highly unlikely that the bank has moved the money, or removed you from the joint account, out of their own volition. Has anyone else got access to your phone? Does anyone else have access to your mum's account? Why did neither of you notice for several months?

As you are no longer on the joint account, the bank won't be able to tell you anything about it. Your mum should raise a formal complaint with the bank and ask them for details of the transactions.

You can also raise a complaint if money vanished from your account.

So are these accounts with the same bank?
If so which one as it would be nice to know to avoid a bank that does not show ALL accounts that you are a account holder on.

Thank you for your reply. I have spoken with the bank and they are investigating.  I guess our husbands could have access to our phones but there is a zero % chance that either of them would be playing with our bank accounts.  My bank app has biometric login anyway and it does not show the joint account details.  The money hasn't vanished just been moved around.I feel that  It is important that the bank find out how this has occurred.

  • Simple solution, contact your mum and get the account details, then transfer the money that would still be in your account and transfer it back to the "joint" account, then ask your bank to add your name back onto the joint account.

    Problem solved.

Thank you.  The issue is more how the money is being moved without permission.
