Can I view a different house with the same agent?

We have had an offer accepted on a house to purchase for almost 2 months. We were prepared to be patient, however our buyers are starting to get twitchy, and our vendor's agent has just disclosed that they are restricting their search to one street.

We have been maintaining a list of backup properties. One we like is on with the same agent as our vendor's house. Can we arrange to view it? Will they inform their client? Would you say it is a good/bad idea? Thanks!

You can do as you please. Personally I'd do it. If they are causing a delay I would be keeping my options open. May even hurry them up.
Officially in a clique of idiots
  • Wow restricted to one street, why not see other places? They need the sale as much as one too

Just be honest with the agent. They're no fools. They know that if you lose your buyer they won't be selling you a house any time soon, so they'll be as keen enough to show you other options from their books rather than have you go to another agent.

I would certainly go and view it. Your vendors aren't yet proceedable so have to be aware you might find somewhere else meanwhile.
One street! I thought I was being restrictive with one town!
  • I saw my current property with three different agents. We liked the house the first time though the agent didn't seem up to it. So we went back until we found the appropriate agent. It worked.
  • Sure no problem, buy 2, 3, ...  17 houses... off you go! No law or regulation against how many you are buying.

Not sure you understood the OP's question, try reading it again, carefully.
  • The agent wants to sell you a house, they don't care which one it might be.
