    Are you 100% sure it’s 38hrs a week and not 37.5 ? £17,000/37.5x52 = £8.72
    I'm sure.
sounds like that's what's happened, they've based it off a standard 37.5 but you are on 38. Do you work different hours on different days then? Else you'd need to work 7 hours and 36 minutes per day. If you are working 38 hours then they need to give you half hour back somewhere.

edit of course that's based off a 5 day week, if you are on shifts then makes more sense

I work 8 hours Mon-Wed, 7.5 hours on Thursday's and 6.5 hours on Friday's. Lunch not included, because it's unpaid.

Perhaps your employer thinks you only work 7.5 hrs on Wednesday
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
  • So, am I correct that I'm being paid less than the NLW?

Could be that you've been counting your break in your working hours - for instance if you work 9am to 5pm then you have a 20 minute unpaid break in middle of at least 20 minutes?  Thats why its important to know your actual start/finish times
