Letter from CredAbility saying Fraudulent Account

Hi all
I had a unsolicited letter from this crowd called "CredAbilty" this morning, stating that they'd identified one of their accounts in my name which they were treating as fraudulent (pics below). Obvs it was my address on the letter, but just "Dear <my first name>. They say they have closed it and are liaising with Equifax to move that record of the credit search. I've never heard of them, and have never used Equifax (though I at least know Equifax are geniune)
I haven't a clue where this is from. I haven't given any details out that shouldn't have, and my computer is secure with no dodgy websites visited. Someone did try and scam me on Gumtree recently, as I accidently replied by email, and he tried the old "My agent will collect...yada, yada". Is this genuine, or some kind of scam ?
Not sure what to do ?
TIA

Funny when you google them there is nothing showing up at least I can find. Checked out their company using their company number - https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/04413348

Equifax are a credit reference agency, you dont "use them".
But yes a very odd letter. They seem to be exactly the same as Clearscore, i.e. they use Equifax to show you your credit file. Probably a very poor marketing letter

I know what they are. I just mean I've had no recourse to consult them
What do you think, spoof or not ?0 -
Not a spoof, just a very very poor marketing letter to get you to sign up for an account with them, as I said they are no different to Clearscore.
If you are bored you could contact Equifax direct and ask if a fraudulent account has been removed, I suppose. Wouldnt be surprised if Credability made it up tbh.0 -
I was thinking along those lines but just wanted to ask here.
About 10 years ago somebody scammed my credit card for £5K balance transfer, which was a nightmare but was eventually sorted out by the bank, so this worried me.
Thanks everyone0 -
Are you sure you haven’t used it to check your Equifax report? As I did a search using Credibility and the address on the letter and it came up with this.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0

I don't think this is a marketing attempt, ther's very little mention of Credability themselves, no link to their website and honestly, it''s hardly the sort of letter that's going to inspire you with confidence in their services.0 -
I think that letter is genuine. I can see nothing that they could gain from sending it.I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.1
