Flight cancellation

Options
In August 2019 I booked 2 flights with easyJet to fly in November 2019. Four days later easyJet cancelled the flights (no reason given) and offered alternative flights 2 days earlier or 2 days later. I contacted my hotel, who refused to move my dates. I therefore booked new flights with Ryanair for my original dates, and claimed the extra cost from easyJet. They did not answer correspondence so I took easyjet to court and won. EasyJet had to pay for my Ryanair flights.
Has anyone else suffered like this but took the hit?

Do you mean that you issued small claims proceedings and EasyJet simply did not put up a case and therefore the claim was awarded in your favour?

What are you hoping to learn with replies to your question?
  • Did you receive compensation for the Easyjet for the cancelled flights in addition to the cost of the Ryanair flights - or are you still out of pocket on the original booking ?

EasyJet fought the case, but I won and was awarded the Ryanair fare, of £291.96, which was £159.81 more than the easyJet fare, plus my court costs of £25.

I just received all of the Ryanair fare, which was £159 more than what I had paid easyJet, plus my court costs of £25.
  • Well done that man.
I wonder how many more "refusnik" companies will be facing court proceedings to address refund claims ?
On The Beach and LastMinute.com spring to mind.
