Courier insurance con. Refused insurance claim after paying out for previous 3 claims.

I've been sending Solid Oak Letterboxes weighing 10k+ with Hermes for 3 years. They were extremely well packed. Hermes rules said no wooden furniture and no garden furniture. Generally a good service but i had a spell of 3 boxes being damaged in transit. I got the buyer to return and i build them  a replacement. Hermes paid out in full immediately with no quibble. (between £140 and £200 each time). I then had approx 2 years of no claims and the had a box damaged. Hermes refused the claim saying it was furniture. I have been paying Hermes for insurance  for each delivery so can i claim for a refund on the insurance premiums i have paid since the last claim. (i send over 200 boxes per year with them and average insurance charge is £3 30.  A total of approx £1320.
Has anybody else claimed or I have i a case for trading standards ?????
John

If their policy excludes wooden furniture you don't have any reason to expect them to fulfill your claim, your suggestion that you've always got away with it in the past isn't a reason. You should write off your mistake and consider using a courier that covers wooden furniture.

The insurance is sold on the basis of a non-advised sale, its up to you to read the terms and decide if its appropriate for your needs or not.  It is most likely simply a case of a different claim handler interpreting the items definition differently, you could challenge that its "furniture" if you feel the description doesnt fit.

On a side note I was very unimpressed with Parcel2Go the other day as when adding the package contents it came up with a warning that the type of item will not be covered for loss or damage which was helpful were it not for the fact there were several points downstream of it warning of the risk of not buying the £11 insurance.
