Meadowhall parking fine

My partner came home today with a fine which was left on the car from her parking in a blue bay.
We have a newborn baby & all of the parent bays were full, which left my partner no choice to use a blue bay, as she needed baby food immediately, she nipped into boots & came out to find the packet advising of a 100£ fine £60 if paid in 2 weeks.
Im not sure what to do about this, its ridiculous to me that a parent shopping for parental items gets fine while shopping as there are barely 1/4 of the parent bays to blue bays.
Not happy at all
Can anyone advise me on how i should go about getting this bs quashed?

Advice would be much appreciated

Sorry to tell you this, but having a baby does NOT allow a driver to use an accessible bay for disabled people.  The latter has a legal meaning and reason (The Equality Act).

Parent and Child bays are just gimmick bays by retailers to make families feel welcome.  It is not a right to have a special bay.  Don't expect to park in a wider bay.  And I say this as a mum who had 4 kids in seven years and drove them about.

Parent & Child bays mean nothing at all.  Lucky if you get one, but not a 'right'.

What do you need to know about appealing that's not in the NEWBIES thread?

  • Hi, i understand this but as i wasnt driving i cant comment on things im unaware of.

My concern is around them having a name & an address right now, if i send them a name & address, ive fulfilled my part of the request as i wasnt driving & this should be the end of this, no?
  • As in "any name & adress" i can just pull something out of thin air here, its not my fault if they cant locate this person is it?

I would not be lying , it can easily backfire and the keeper may be liable anyway if the PPC complied with POFA , which if it's Minster Baywatch they probably will comply. They have a legal obligation to keep every blue bay free for disabled drivers or disabled passengers in vehicles. That law being the Equality Act 2010

So was it Joe Biden , Donald J Trump , Napoleon Bonaparte , or Mickey M Mouse ??

There are an advertised 12000 car park spaces at Meadowhall , there must have been some free spaces within walking distance of Boots for an able bodied young Driver

    No.

If they have complied with the Protection of Freedoms Act, and if the driver you have nominated doesn't respond or denies being the driver, then the keeper is responsible for the actions/inactions of the driver.

@bobajob1 - which parking company is involved please?

We used to get so many threads about this place when PCM infested it - mainly from staff - but all that seems to have gone very quiet.  I wonder what happened with these, a number (from recollection) being teed up for court?

  • There's 1000s of unlimited free parking at Meadowhell, the ppc's only patrol the disabled blue badge spaces.
My lad used to park there and jump on the tram into the city daily for work, never had a ticket.
I think on this occassion you'll have to bite the bullet as stated earlier by Coupon Mad, having a baby in tow does not mean your partner is entitled to a disabled parking spot

To be clear, I didn't say pay the thing! There was no 'bite the bullet' advice given.  Just a warning about selfish parking by parents who seem to think they have a right to a special bay, when P&C bays are just gimmicks by supermarkets and nothing like a disabled bay.
