The radiator pictures you show suggest a water system heated by an on demand electric boiler - the worst way form of central heating known to man. No wonder your bills are so high.
Eon have done nothing wrong - they didn't know what you were using your electric for.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Sadly I can't see anything here to argue about.Looks like an electric wet heating system, running on E7, may as well be lighting a fire with £20 notes, might even have been cheaper to do that...As to liability, even with only your name on the bill, your flatmate is jointly liable for the amount as a point of law. This is an expensive lesson, but never rent a place that uses and electric wet heating system and certainly never stay on E7 if you are not using enough power overnight to make it worthwhile. There are simple tests to check that the meter is only serving your flat and that it is the right meter, but you can't do that now without the cooperation of the current tenants. At face value, the consumption and the cost stacks up as plausible given the heating system and the mistakes you made in picking a tariff.Sorry.0

Should I get a smart meter installed0

This is for your new property ?
No reason why not (lots of discussions pro and con on this forum!) but don't forget to understand your bills. Financially speaking a good tariff is the best move.

Just new to you.
Which supplier are you talking to and who is your present supplier? Usually they say it's a condition of moving to them - which you can just ignoreNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Hollie292 is this connected with the OP? If not you might be better off starting a new thread.2

I don't have a smart meter so have never read one, could someone please explain to me why the 'A actual' night meter reading on the bill bear no resemblance whatsoever to the check in and out readings on the photos of the meter taken by the letting agent.
There is one checkout photo showing 0000000 but i'm guessing that's an export out reading for solar panels maybe?

The dates are not the same. Unfortunately the OP has provided only a few pieces of the jigsaw and seems to have disappeared, so it's hard to see the whole picture. It seems to be a textbook example of absolutely everything going wrong: an electric boiler that will always be hopelessly expensive to run, a tariff that's also hopelessly expensive, an expensive payment method and a dodgy flatmate. Disaster guaranteed !1
