Cancelled cruise fallout

If you booked the cruise in the UK then you can insist on a full refund0

I do have travel insurance, through my Nationwide bank account, and I have enquired about this.
Unfortunately, they say my policy is invalid because I didn't pay an Over 70 supplement of which I was unaware. Waste of space !

I had not paid the balance of the cruise before it was cancelled so I had no qualms about accepting a voucher for next year.Peter0 -
Keep in mind for next time that you may also have to pay extra for a policy that covers cruises. Given the high cost of taking someone off a cruise ship at sea who is ill I have seen some of the standard policies exclude cruise holidays, or at least add a cover supplement.1

Westin,
Yes, good advice and that's definitely something to bear in mind.
The fact that the hotel is closed is now a 'consumer' issue rather than an 'age' or 'Covid' problem, isn't it ?
That's my slant on this, anyway.Peter0 -
I guess the hotel closure could still be covid related. Operationally it may not be worth them opening due to weak demand, or possibly local restrictions either do not permit the operation or economically it is unviable with the local restrictions in place (limits on occupancy etc). The hotel being currently closed is also very possibly the reason why you have not been able to contact them or receive a response.
As another poster mentioned, next best recourse if you can not contact the hotel might be via your credit card. The cc provider might however take the view that until your booked date the hotel may still open for guests and therefore until that date passes not wish to deal or process a claim.1 -
"Unfortunately, they say my policy is invalid because I didn't pay an Over 70 supplement of which I was unaware.
