Sim card for mobile phone on a contract .? How long is was the contract , Usual is you cancel with O2 otherwise can build up debt .Cancelled with bank does that mean its not being paid by the bank .0

Is there any information on the SIM card? Usually a number [it's not the phone number]Take care if you have just stopped the direct debit / payment, somewhere in an O2 bunker a computer will eventually spot you have stopped paying and a debt will accrue. You really do need to get more info to cancel this SIM / contract.Did your husband get the SIMby walking into an O2 shop in town maybe? Somewhere there must be documentation about itGardener’s pest is chef’s escargot0

A SIM-only mobile phone contact, if that's what was signed up for to obtain the SIM card, will run with its monthly charge until you cancel it either by giving notice of cancellation or by using a PAC (Porting Authorisation Code) obtained from the network to move the phone number to another network.
Simply cancelling the direct debit payments with your bank will only trash your credit files for non-payment of a debt, which will build up as the contract continues.
When you contacted O2 about it, what did you ask them and what do you mean by 'nobody knows'..?Evolution, not revolution0 -
OP do you actually have the SIM? or is it "somewhere" but you can't find it?If you have it, put it in another phone and find out the number of itThen use it on O2 to get "my O2" which will give all the details you need to cancel itGardener’s pest is chef’s escargot0

Or have you just stopped the payments?Asking because in original post you say no one at O2 knew about itAs to refund, very unlikely as it's taken you 41/2 years to realise you were paying for something you never useYou may get a bit back for the unused part of this month, assuming you really have cancelled with O2 and not just stopped paying
