We have the majority of our cash savings in PBs because of the tax advantage. I have had the max for 26 months with £1575 in prizes, all £25 except for a single £100, which if my maths is correct works out at 1.45% AER. My partner had the max for 25 months with prizes of £1500 , all 25s, which works out as 1.44%. So it looks like we have been very slightly above average luck so far.
Next year I expect the prizes should average between £450 and £475 a year for max holding. If the savings rates continue to fall in the coming months PBs remain a viable option for higher rate taxpayers, exceeding the £500 savings allowance (as if on 0.01% !!) and tax free status.

    • Income Bonds down to 0.01%

So if I put £10 million in the income account I will have £1k a year income!
No, you'd have £9m returned to you and receive £100 income from your maximum £1m balance.... ;)
    Ahh forgot the max.
So £100 income from £1 million. That's less than £2 a week. They shouldn't really call it an income bond.

Even if the savings rates don't continue to fall, PBs remain etc. etc.
Unless the rate for PBs also continues to fall. ... ;)
