Do slugs indicate damp?

No, the cat food is the other end of the house in the kitchen.rach_k said:Apparently they like pet food and have a great sense of smell so that could be attracting them if you have pets.
I honestly never thought about why they were coming into our house. Once I blocked up their access, it stopped and I put it out of my mind. That was 8 years ago though and the house is still standing and with no signs of damp that I can see in that room. It suppose it might be damp under the floorboards though; at some point it's going to touch the earth and it's always in shade.
Does it smell or feel damp in that room?
No, the house is quite airy. The void under the floorboards at the front is quite deep, about 4 foot.

Reading people’s responses has helped me to think round the problem.
It’s occurred to me that while the earth at the bottom under the house might be a bit damp, that’s what the damp course is for, to keep the damp from rising up into the house.
Also, the house isn’t at the bottom of a hill, and not in an area prone to flooding, so am probably fine.
Blocking up the holes probably all I need to do.
Thanks for all replies.
