Hi good people, I wonder if anyone can help.
I left my husband following an amicable break up a week before lockdown. Since then I have received mail addressed to him at my new address on three occasions. The first letter I passed on to him. The second I returned to sender with it marked not at this address. That was about six weeks ago. I have just received another letter with the same return address on the back of the envelope. I've googled the return address and found it to be Lowell Financial Ltd.
How could Lowell Financial have my address for him. I doubt very much he would have given it to them. The only way I can think of is that they have run a credit search on me. Surely that's illegal?
The only financial link I ever had to my ex was a joint bank account that was never in debt and is now closed. No other applications for any of type finance were ever made.
How can I get them to stop? I've tried calling them to explain but they won't entertain me as I'm not the person named on the letter.
I'm concerned I'm going to start getting people knocking on my door and I'm not sure how to go about proving he doesn't live here.

Err, No I haven’t. Nor would I ever. This is the only debt I have which A grand total of £46.12. The reason for the debt is because a mobile phone company took 3 weeks to issue a pac code (apparently their systems had gone down). This then took me into the next billing period but that’s not the point. The wife moved out. I haven’t given anyone her address as my own but yet Lowell have found it and are chasing me at her address. The question is, how have they found her address and isn’t it illegal? And before the keyboard warriors continue, yes I have been in touch with them and tried to explain that 1. I’m not paying it and 2. Their acting illegally. Their not interested as when I give them my current address it doesn’t match their records.
    I'm confused ....whose who?

The OP is the Wife, the second poster is the Husband
    That's what I thought....so there's a domestic happening on MSE?

pity dpj76 didn't just pick up the phone & get it sorted privately

OP - have you registered with your council at your new address for council tax?   Claiming single person occupancy?    Changed your address on the electoral role?   This should be proof enough for Lowells.

You really think this is a real dilemma? Brand new poster and then within 3 hours her ex husband just so happens to post on a brand new account as well? Can smell the bull from here.

Either that or two people in cahoots doing it for a giggle yes. Think about it. How would the husband know its him being talked about from the name of the OP and the details contained within it?

All a very very poor wind up.
  • The OP said an amicable break up so maybe they both signed up to get advice?
  • Hmm. I am a cynic, I prefer my explanation of events 🤣
