Receiving mail for my ex at my new address.

Hi good people, I wonder if anyone can help.
I left my husband following an amicable break up a week before lockdown. Since then I have received mail addressed to him at my new address on three occasions. The first letter I passed on to him. The second I returned to sender with it marked not at this address. That was about six weeks ago. I have just received another letter with the same return address on the back of the envelope. I've googled the return address and found it to be Lowell Financial Ltd.
How could Lowell Financial have my address for him. I doubt very much he would have given it to them. The only way I can think of is that they have run a credit search on me. Surely that's illegal?
The only financial link I ever had to my ex was a joint bank account that was never in debt and is now closed. No other applications for any of type finance were ever made.
How can I get them to stop? I've tried calling them to explain but they won't entertain me as I'm not the person named on the letter.
I'm concerned I'm going to start getting people knocking on my door and I'm not sure how to go about proving he doesn't live here.

Err, No I haven’t. Nor would I ever. This is the only debt I have which A grand total of £46.12. The reason for the debt is because a mobile phone company took 3 weeks to issue a pac code (apparently their systems had gone down). This then took me into the next billing period but that’s not the point. The wife moved out. I haven’t given anyone her address as my own but yet Lowell have found it and are chasing me at her address. The question is, how have they found her address and isn’t it illegal? And before the keyboard warriors continue, yes I have been in touch with them and tried to explain that 1. I’m not paying it and 2. Their acting illegally. Their not interested as when I give them my current address it doesn’t match their records.1

When I moved into my current place, I received letters for a previous tenant/owner. I knew the current landlord had bought the place 4 years previously and this person had never been their tenant. The sender was either some kind of grant giving organisation or a school places organisation, the best I could tell from the information on the back of the envelope. So after returning 3-4 times with not at this address, the next time I put 'Not at this address, please return to..' on the front of the envelope. On the rear of the envelope, I wrote that the addressee had moved out prior to the date the current landlords had bought the place. I might have written one or two other things, but essentially I told them the facts as I knew them. The letters stopped after that.0

in answer to the OP - it doesn't matter if the mail keeps coming, just cross out the addressee and write return to sender, addressee does not live at this address. chuck it back in the letterbox. if he truly doesn't live there then there is little that they can do.1 -
Have you both severed the financial link on all credit reports?
I would suggest you both write a letter of complaint.
Wife does it on the basis they are writing to an address the ex never lived at and it's causing additional upset etc during an already difficult time.
Husband does it on the basis of breach of GDPR and never lived at the address.
Then take it to the ombudsman if need be.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
My Mum had a letter a few years back seeking my Dad in regards a private pension of his. At her third address after they split up. Not on public electoral roll and ex directory for phone.
They had divorced some 20 years previously...
Presumably at the time he was with that employer Mum was down as his wife/next of kin, she was then traced via public records by name/age/dob when they couldn't find Dad (he was living abroad).
These things may well be more common than some seem to think.1 -

The OP is the Wife, the second poster is the Husband2 -
You don't have to prove he doesn't live there, they are fishing for his address, just keep sending them back as not living there. And make a formal complaint to them. You might get more help on the debt free board.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
