Some years ago I obtained a cheap-as-chips, refurbished desktop PC from an ebay seller and it's still going strong. To say the least I've been delighted. Does anyone know any similar supplier of laptops?

If you type "refurbished laptop" into Amazon.co.uk. but not sure that they are cheap-as-chips1

I have been wanting to remember the name of my laptop supplier, bought it refurbed 3 years ago and my dad bought one from the same supplier like 6 - 8 years ago.
He got an HP Elite-book the older type Win 7 which was built like a brick
I got an Thinkpad T430 which is also built like a brick.
And they were cheap as chips.
This company was well known at the time and they used to send you a paper catalogue I get the feeling it was a 3 letter name They used to do a lot of these top end laptops and desktops.
I searched and searched but have never found the same company again
Any guesses as to the company I am thinking of?

I bought a refurbished Dell Inspiron 17R from Dell 7 years ago. Had to replace the battery, but its still going strong.0

I have found that ex-company laptops have gone up by about 50% since the start of lockdown because of small supply and huge demand. I've bought 50-or-so over the years from Microdream.

Thanks to all who replied.
Obviously I was being over-optimistic based on my previous experience with tower pcs. I note you can still get one of these, fully wiped and installed with latest Windows OS for £50 or less. Laptops are clearly a different market with people like Microdream expecting in the £00s for essentially the same service.0 -

Maybe a bit more. Are you claiming it's somehow more technologically than a PC/monitor combination? The fact is that the whole 'laptop industry' has been running as a cash cow for the producers at the consumer's expense for years, literally.0

Before lockdown refurbished business laptops really were cheap as chips. Now demand has shot up they're cheap as pommes de terre sautées.
