A lightening strike would not end up in you paying for the repair under any circumstances. It would be repaired , for free, by openreach.
Openreach can , for operational reasons, place a pole wherever they like but under no circumstances would they block a drive .
They wouldn't block a legal drive with a dropped kerb as they would then have to move it , at their own expense , to a place away from your drive .
