Buying the freehold

  • Thank you very much. That's what i was hoping. Is there some sort of time frame which means you can't force the sale of the freehold after extending the lease?
  • Right.... I had a call back today from a chartered surveyor who I contacted last week. He asked the price and said it was interesting because he has just dealt with this not far from me, around the same house value and he got it for 21k with also 12 years left on the lease. He is currently dealing with one that has 5 years left. He is of the opinion that the freeholder is pulling a fast one. He has advised me to cancel the appointment  I made earlier today with a solicitor and told me to make one with another solicitor. He seems confident this will be sorted for me and he will get it for 21 to 25k.
