How do I stop receiving email notifications for a thread?

Options
I am receiving constant chatter from a thread, but it is not bookmarked, so I cannot unbookmark it.
I think this is because I made the mistake of posting on that thread.
How on earth am I meant to stop my email filling up with constant nattering with this new MSE forum?!? Six months on and I still find it a huge step backwards.

  • You can't stop emails for just one thread but you can stop them for all threads you have posted in.
Go to Notifications (the small bell shape at the top right of the forum), then click on the three lines at the right hand side. Then deselect where it says "Notify me when people comment on discussions I've participated in."

Thanks! But wow, just wow ... that's a shocking step backwards. It means I don't dare post in a thread where people are likely going to go on and on and on about trivia long after I've lost interest.
I put it all down to teething troubles originally, but with this and the less useful / curtailed content within the preview emails means it seems like we're stuck with a "new" forum that simply won't ever have any basic bugs fixed to bring it up to the level of usability of the old forum.
Anyway, thanks to you I have now silenced the chjit-chat! I can always manually bookmark anything I am interested in.

Strangely this function only works intermittently for me. Sometimes I get a pop up saying a user has commented on something and other times I get nothing. Clicking on the bell alerts me but no pop up.
