Disabled toilets access

Hi,
Can anyone clarify what the law is regarding access to disabled toilets in a public place, my wife is a Postie & has a colosomy bag fitted, recently she was delivering mail to a school (Scotland) & asked to use the toilet & was point blank refused even after explaining her disabillity, as you can imagine having this disabillity is bad enough but then having to worry about finding a toilet is just as bad, I've searched the net but can't seem to find anything.
any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks
Colin

Your issue there is a school isnt a public building.1

I was trying to understand how this is a coronavirus subject. Is the issue that places that used to allow access to use toilets won't any more?3

If she's a Royal Mail employee then it's Royal Mail who are responsible for making reasonable adjustments for her disability, not Royal Mail's customers. If she's on a round which isn't close to the sorting office and there's no public toilets anywhere near the roads on her round then I'd suggest she should ask her employer to make a reasonable adjustment and to move her to a round closer to the sorting office so she can use the facilities there if needed.
In the current circumstances I can understand a school not wanting to allow a visitor to venture further in to the school building then is necessary for the purpose of doing their job.1 -
Might be worth her downloading one of the apps that have been developed which allows you to find nearby open toilets0

does she have any other health issues ?
it would be unusual for someone with a colostomy only to be classified as disabled0 -
Disability classifications can be very broad. There are a number of conditions with no outward signs but eligible for radar key.JamoLew said:does she have any other health issues ?

A disability is where something has a significant affect on your ability to live a normal life. In some cases a radar key is offered because a particular person might not be able to queue for the normal facility, opposed to them needing the extra features which a disabled toilet offers.Grumpy_chap said:
