Garage booking/quote websites

Does anyone have any thoughts on websites that you post your job on to get quotes? Are any better than others, issues do this,  etc?
eg  whocanfixmycar      bookmygarage       autobutler          mycarneedsa
I think it's wise to confirm the price with the garage directly before the work is done to stop any confusion with the third party (website).

You will be better off going to your local trusted independent garage who will inspect and then give a more accurate quote or estimate, how can someone on line give you a price for a repair without looking first ,imagine you only wanted an flexi brake pipe fitted to your front brake calliper BUT when they start the next brake hose snaps when being loosened and then the next one etc.
  • I was thinking of simple jobs like servicing, so known tasks and costs
  • Decent garages/builders/plumbers etc etc don't need to advertise on these sort of sites.......Kwik Fit will be very cheap for a service but would you really let them any where near your car

Thanks for the idea. They do sound bad so I won't use them. There is not much around about the others, who have a different business models ie paying the garage direct, so less open to issues

    Dear OP
Be wary about them driving away your car to a good garage.  Servicing is aluck of the draw thing even with main dealers - even Merc, Landrover, etc don't get it right so heck knows about the other outfits. Even Halfords can be hit and miss as our daughter too her first car their and one lot was great and another said she needed new discs without taking the wheels off good job she remembered that as mu OH was not pleased and rang them to explain how they could tell discs nned changing without taking the wheels off they said they would retrain the guy -  a garage even a good one can be let down by a useless tech and it would be nice if you could see them service the car

  • Some garages, Mercedes amongst them to show you work being done in a video already.

Not the full service video and that is a fact. One gets the 30 second or so clip re the underside of the
and mentions suspension exhaust etc, it is not the full service, no where close to the full service video. It shows nothing to dow
with the service parts but a quick run through how the suspension, exhaust, etc is

Oh no, don’t set them off with the service video palaver again!  That one has already been done to death!
