Reduced E standing charge slightly, Gas usage price kept down to Unit Rate 3.816p/kWh, hammered E users with what I calculate to be just over 22% unit rate increase from 17.695 to 21.596p/kWh, prior to this month E unit rate was 15.73pkwh ( my region)jcb208 said:
Another price rise 14% from Octoberburnleymik said:I just joined these guys at the end of August, based upon their competitive rates and I didn't see any warning of large price hikes. I just received the email stating this 10.9% rise. Will they honour the prices I joined themat, with it being so recently and if not can I move to another supplier without incurring any fees? Thanks.

All of these price increases are due to increases in wholesale prices for the UK (and likely same situation in Europe as it's closely linked).0 -
Yes. If there is a switch in progress and it is being cancelled then all the agencies involved in the transfer of supply have to be notified. If you attempt another switch today, the system will block it as there is already a 'transfer in progress'. Whether this takes 10 days or 3 weeks: I haven't a clue. The latter is what suppliers who take over failed supplier accounts advise.A._Badger said:
The good news (for me, at any rate) is that Igloo has just replied, saying it accepets my cancellation. There is a worrying addendum, though. At the end of their email it says: "If you decide to switch again we would love to welcome you back, however, you'll need to wait 3 weeks to avoid complications with the transfer of your supply.".burnleymik said:
Yes, this is the thing. Although I have dual fuel, my primary source is electricity so I spent a good while checking around for the best prices per unit and daily charge, now back to the drawing board.A._Badger said:Within the terms of the agreement or not, it's pretty irritating when you have just gone through the hassle of running the comparisons on a selection of websites and decided on a new supplier, only for them to shift their prices up by such a percentage.
Now to see how well the 14 day cancellation window is adhered too. Then it's back to the websites again....
I even emailed Igloo just before I started this thread, asking about the price hike, but they haven't responded.
Does that imply I should also wait three weeks before switching to anyone else?0 -

I hesitate to respond in case I get accused of being rude. I must be having another of my dim days but I haven’t a clue what the above sentence is intended to convey.jcb208 said:No actually energy supplier, just got a 1 year fix the same as I pay now before the 14% increase. No need to be rude0 -
