I just joined these guys at the end of August, based upon their competitive rates and I didn't see any warning of large price hikes. I just received the email stating this 10.9% rise. Will they honour the prices I joined themat, with it being so recently and if not can I move to another supplier without incurring any fees? Thanks.
A smile costs nothing, but gives a lot.
It enriches those who receive it without making poorer those who give it.
A smile takes only a moment, but the memory of it can last forever.

I'm in the processing of switching to Igloo - hoping now it's not too late to cancel the switch.

You are correct, but it's no problem as long as I can move on without penalty. I suppose I relate it, in my mind, to mobile phone contracts where you expect fluctuation within the RPI, but the 10.9% was a bit of a shock. Thanks for the link.bristolleedsfan said:burnleymik said:I just joined these guys at the end of August, based upon their competitive rates and I didn't see any warning of large price hikes. Variable tariffs don't have any exit fees so you'll be able to switch away without any penalty1

Within the terms of the agreement or not, it's pretty irritating when you have just gone through the hassle of running the comparisons on a selection of websites and decided on a new supplier, only for them to shift their prices up by such a percentage.
Now to see how well the 14 day cancellation window is adhered too. Then it's back to the websites again....1 -
I'm in the same boat as you Burnleymilk. I'm changing suppliers today.1

Yes, this is the thing. Although I have dual fuel, my primary source is electricity so I spent a good while checking around for the best prices per unit and daily charge, now back to the drawing board.A._Badger said:Within the terms of the agreement or not, it's pretty irritating when you have just gone through the hassle of running the comparisons on a selection of websites and decided on a new supplier, only for them to shift their prices up by such a percentage.

I even emailed Igloo just before I started this thread, asking about the price hike, but they haven't responded.A smile costs nothing, but gives a lot.It enriches those who receive it without making poorer those who give it.A smile takes only a moment, but the memory of it can last forever.0 -
The good news (for me, at any rate) is that Igloo has just replied, saying it accepets my cancellation. There is a worrying addendum, though. At the end of their email it says: "If you decide to switch again we would love to welcome you back, however, you'll need to wait 3 weeks to avoid complications with the transfer of your supply.".burnleymik said:

Does that imply I should also wait three weeks before switching to anyone else?
