Yes agreed but apparently they still can’t locate the money. It’s the old code for Santander credit card. Hopefully my bank can sort it.D3xt3r5L4b said:
Well both are Santander.Charlie1972280518 said:
09-01-09. Correct code should have been 09-00-99bradders1983 said:What is the sort code?0 -
No, your money won't be lost. The payment was intended for Santander and it went to Santander. They should be able to either return it to you or redirect it to the correct department, surely. They must get this kind of situation on a regular basis, especially if the sort codes change. Don't worry and don't listen to the nonsense about money being lost for good. It sounds as if you contacted them as soon as you realised you'd made a mistake and now they've started a recall. Take a deep breath and make a nice cup of tea. (And don't say you don't like tea!)Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Technology has moved on since then though. Stop trying to frighten the OP!Fingerbobs said:I did exactly the same a few years ago, also with Santander. Right account number, but one digit wrong in the sort code (mis-heard over the phone). It took me nearly a year to get the money back. Apparently, the money had gone into an account they use for mortgage payments. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. It wasn't a legislative change as such, but there is a code of practice adopted by most of the industry in 2016: https://www.fasterpayments.org.uk/press-release/new-help-customers-recover-payments-sent-errorCharlie1972280518 said:The law changed regarding these kinds of errors apparently so that they have to be rectified within 20 days.As long as the recipient does not dispute your claim, you will subsequently receive a refund of the protected funds within 20 working days from when you notified your bank0 -
Just stating facts. Not trying to frighten anyone, and I don't see how my post could be construed as such. If anything, it was intended to be reassuring, in that I did eventually get my money back and it wasn't gone forever.MalMonroe said:

What particular "technology" has "moved on" in the last 5 years that would affect the resolution of this type of problem?0 -
Yes, the correct sort code for payments to a Santander branded range of credit cards is 09-00-99, account number 01000007 - followed by the 16 digit credit card number as the reference.I don't believe 09-01-09 is an "old" (redundant) sort code - it is active, last time I used it, for my Amazon Platinum CC0

In the meanwhile, if at all possible you should make the payment again to the correct account. They may not be willing to waive a late payment marker / fee as they are not at fault.1
